If you are in a market where you cant make anything, go get another job. Are you people for real? When I drive around the bayarea with both apps on I average from 20-30 an hour consistently before gas. I cant believe some of the stuff I read.

Sometimes I wonder if people are posting stuff to try to get other drivers off the road?

Uber and Lyft if you put in the hours and work smart in the right market, can be good money.

people are just incredibly dumb.

File your tax return, then tell us about it.
Apply for credit when your only income is a Schedule C from Uber, good luck.
When you rack up 50,000 miles on your car and got nothing to show for it, tell us how you feel then.

Nope. Not even close.

If you're smart you can write everything off on your taxes. And vehicle depreciation is totally insignificant.

I was thinking about being a teacher. Oh, wait. Schools are closed.

I could be a bartender. Or maybe a waiter. Even a bouncer. Oh wait, bars and restaurants are shut down.

Maybe I should get a job at the mall. Or a movie theater. Car dealership? Bank? Coffee shop? NOPE.

About the only places that still employ people are grocery and liquor stores, and they took down the Now Hiring signs 2 weeks ago.

Any suggestions, other than "go get a job, losers"?

When in doubt, look to history for guidance. When you need a job, it's generally advised to look for one that has passed the test of time. Thus I suggest looking at "the oldest profession in the book".

Well, rideshare is very low threshold, super flexible, and pretty damn chill on the whole so I think people really want to make it work, even if it's objectively not. People will kid themselves and try to tweak their Ubering to get the best possible results, but many will still fail. They're not going to want to quit the gig in favor of some crappy job that they're chained to for 40 hours a week.

It's no big deal for people like me who do well in the real world and don't need rideshare, because if my numbers suck I just go home. But many ants will drive themselves to death under the illusion that it's working for them, just to continue the whole no-boss/flexible hours thing. Ultimately, we should all do the hard math and face facts in the end, however. And if it's not working, do something else.

The thing is, as long as Ive put in the hours, its never not worked. Ever. Which is why I dont understand peoples complaints. Must just be the market I live in, or Im incredibly lucky.

Even 2 days ago I drove in this pandemic and made 240 pretty easily.

So why do it? 🤷‍♂
I for one,don't whine

or were you asking why drive?

I think the op is saying if this doesn't work for you, don't cry about it, just do something else. He is not saying it works for everyone in every market, only that it works for him. Or as my mother might have said... if you keep doing dumb things and get hurt; don't come crying to me

Regarding taxes: Taxes have nothing to do with cash flow.and cash flow is why we do this I did my taxes and I was able to show $0 taxable income. Inspire of the over $3000 a month I took out of Uber

Uber drivers are self employed and even drivers that are doing well don't make much money. Credit is a problem for all self employed people and all low income people. It's not just Uber

I've put 150000 miles on my car doing Uber and I have nothing to show for it, except that I haven't had to draw down my savings since I started this. And the car istill looks good and is running well
