I have an amex blue cash preferred. I get 6% back from grocery store purchases. Ralphs is teamed up with Shell (the cheapest gas station that takes a cc i think) and has an ongoing 20 cents off/g after you buy $100 worth of gift cards (including amazon and shell! ) (they just finished a 40 cents off/g promotion which was pretty awesome). The points are only good for 1 fill up to 30 (maybe 35) gallons. I also use some small lyft/shell rewards.

So say gas is $2.75/g, my tank holds 18g.
18g x $.20 = $3.60
18g x $2.55 = $45.9 off my 100 shell gift card
Driving for lyft (like one ride a month) I have a constant 3 cents / gallon reward linked to my shell rewards account. I use this with the remaining $56.1 on my card. (I think the Lyft reward varies by how much u drive and can be over 10 15 and 20 cents off a gallon.)
$56.1 / $2.55 = 22g x .$03 = $.66

Total savings
6% cc cash back from the $100 shell gc :) = $6
Ralphs rewards savings = $3.60
Lyft rewards savings = $.66
Saved $10.26 on 40g of fuel.
Cost per gallon $100/40g total = 2.50 Saving about 11%

Let me know if you guys know a better way to save at the pump!

Looks like there are no deals at the moment. Lots of morons trying to sell gift cards at above face value though.

Ebay, ebay bucks, rolling gift cards, cash back, Mr rebates, ev rewards, camel camel camel, cc points/miles, churning, live/bing cashback. It's a complicated world out there, only known to those who take the time to learn the dance.

Just like you make uber work for you, there's plenty of people out there that come out on top buying gift cards over face value.

I just listed a LA Uber ride on eBay. I'm asking $100 for a $40 base X ride. Also if I'm able to match them with another rider they get a $45 base X Pool Ride fore the same $100
