Hey guys,

I'm considering about quitting my job so i can focus on school and do Uber/Lyft part time. However I was wondering what is the average driver making in Los Angeles / Orange Country during Monday - Thursday evenings?

Not worth it if you have a steady gig already. Try it as a side gig and see if you like it. More than likely about 3 months you'll end up hating it. I'm taking a break from Uber cause it had me feeling burned out.

Minimum wage on AVERAGE after all expenses.

NOT "up to $500 per day" or "good money" or "life changing money" as the radio ads tout.... Minimum wage, just like the taxi drivers we replace.
Have you guys noticed in thebrecentbtv ad Uber shows a close-up of the weekly earnings. It's over $600. What they don't say it the amount of hours and miles a real driver would have to put in to get that. I laugh every time I see that ad.

If you want to earn; get a hybrid, drive prime hours, work weekends, and prepare for many wild rides. The gig isn't for everyone.

and the people seeing the $600 don't know they are paying for the car, the gas... that they don't have proper insurance.

by the time somebody posts "I am thinking of doing Uber" they already quit a good job and are leaving the car dealer with a $30,000.00 debt.

Why don't you use the search function of this site to figure this out? The information can easily be found on these message boards. I'll give you a hint--on average, you'll make less than what you are paid at your current job.

If you just need spending money while going to school, yes Uber is good for that. But, don't go buying a car just to do Uber. Not worth it.
Also, if you want to make $500+ per week, you'll be doing 32-40 hours per week. There will be days when you can do $120+ in a day, but those days are short and long in between. Don't count on it.

Now, traveling to downtown LA or the coast will cost you a bundle on time, gas and wear on your car. You say, hey no problem my car is old anyway. Believe you me, after 10K miles everything goes to crap on older cars. And if you have a newer car (1-3 years old), maintenance costs will be high. You'll be doing an oil service every 2-3 months, tires every 3 months or less. Car washes every week or every 3 days. Still think that Uber is better than the job you already have? That's for you to figure out.

By the way, I always say "don't believe what we tell you", try it out for yourself before you quit your job. And, not only try it out for 1 or 2 days, do it for 1 week.
