This past weekend I was in full ant mode, excepted every ping regardless of what it was, and it just reaffirmed my thoughts on every market is different and how the advice from some on this forum is bad for others.

I did 4 pick-ups at two different grocery stores. Yes I knew it was a grocery store before I got there. 3 of the 4 were people with groceries, one was an employee going home. I opened the back of my car for those with groceries, took them all less than a minute to load them up. 3 of the 4 tipped me on the app. 1 tipped me cash.

2 of 3 with groceries were to marinas, people in town staying on their 6+ figure boats. The 3rd was to his house, car broke down, he needed a ride to work Monday morning. I worked it out with him to be there at 7:30 am and he could request a ride on the app. I got it and took him to work, 2 minutes from my work. Nice, got paid 12 of the 14 miles to work Monday morning.

Picked up someone at the laundry mat, 1 basket of clothes, took them to a marina, another boat person.

Took a few servers to work at different restaurants. And finally scored a $250+ trip from a name that I'm sure most people would have passed on (Wackie). Perhaps why it came to me in the first place.

Just might turn the app on early this coming Saturday and Sunday and go full ant mode again. It worked out this past weekend just fine. No strees at second guessing good trips, no stress at looking at PAX ratings.

I pretty much go full ant. On occasion I'll decline a ping based on distance or direction (why do I get a ping from 3 miles behind me when I have a DF set? Even if going my way, I'm not backtracking).
I have been lucky when using DF, the few pick-ups I get are always in the right direction and never more than a mile off to the side of the highway I'm cruising down.

I got real good here figuring out the airport destinations based on just locations....espically the scheduled rides....it took a year of getting burned, but learned from the mistakes myself. There's so many hospital workers, personal care and market district grocery stores here off the bus line and T and majority use "scheduled trip".
It's actually a cycle of stuff you'll notice that repeats itself.....same as the airport itself.

And I agree, it's for sure market based.

Congrats on a nice lucky streak!

Out of curiousity, how many of your pings were 10+ minute pickups?
Just one, it was with Uber, 13 miles away and included a $14.00 long pick-up fee. The cap on long pick-up fees must be $14.00 because i get those often. This particular place is not near anything so I always get a trip at least 15 miles out of it, usually much more, so well worth the drive.

I have not seen any Lyft long pick-ups in a few weeks. Which means my Lyft acceptance is high.

LMAO! I certainly HOPE the DF doesn't take you more than a mile off US 1! Unless you're Ubering on a jetski!

("Cross Tavernier Creek, then turn left. Proceed East six miles to Molasses Reef!")

Geography is a big key to the success with the DF. Like you, I have great success with it when geography is on my side (for example, on the beaches). On the mainland, I have pretty good success, but will get dragged off-course occasionally.

You would be amazed at how many pick-up requests I get that say "Drive to the Pin" and show the pin 3+ miles off shore. Not kidding, at least 1 a week.

I only use DF when I am up in Miami and get tired of being taken farther away from home. Once I get on the highway or turnpike if I get a ping at most I get off at the next exit, pick someone up that is close by, get back on the highway and head south dropping them off an exit or two later. I have yet to bring someone back to the Keys from Miami.

Edit: I do use DF every morning on my way to work. In 10 months only scored 2 trips.

Yep. Been there, done that. I got a ping one morning on the causeway that leads to South Beach. I thought it was a disabled motorist, but when I arrived in the area the pin had moved to the middle of the cruise ship channel and the location name had changed to "North Atlantic Ocean!"

Fortunately, I called the rider, and it turns out they had ordered the ride from the deck of a cruise ship across the channel from the causeway and they a) really DID exist, and b) really did want a ride. I zipped over to Port MIami (OK, not exactly zipped because you have to go into downtown first...) and picked them up. XL ride to the northern part of Ft. Lauderdale beach. NIce!
