Fuel Card Fraud "Beware"

3360 Views 27 Replies 17 Participants Last post by  llort
Just be aware someone hacked my fuel card to the tune of $150 on one transaction. I went to the station where this took place and spoke to the manager. She checked her records and there are no transaction for that amount.

Uber will not do anything. Basically I'm out $150.

You do know your bank account is FDIC insured against theft and fraud so if you got skimmed you wouldn't be liable for the $. Also most credit cards offer protection with card membership. Amex has never expected me to pay for fraudulent purchases. Maybe you should have real info before you go spouting, only spend cash at the gas pump bs logic
And maybe you should go back to third grade and repeat the portion where the rest of us learned reading comprehension. Then you might notice that it was Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo who made the statement about not using cards at gas stations in his county. I spouted nothing, cabbie. Go back to your long haul.

My understanding - Debit cards do not have the same fraud protection as a credit card.
It depends on your bank. Some banks (Chase and Citi, that I know of) give both equal protection. I wouldnt be surprised if the rest of the large banks did the same.

Right haha I'm a cabbie lmfao I just moved to Vegas a year ago and started rideshare back in December. I wouldn't work for anyone but myself. Been self employed since I lived In New York.

Maybe you shouldn't believe everything the sheriff says on the news. But who cares anyway you're blocked now

Hmmmm... who should I believe? The man who's been sheriff of Clark County for the last two years, who's job is to know about crime in southern Nevada, who is a graduate of the FBI Academy, who has access to all kinds of reports and data about crime in Clark County... or... some random internet loser who hasn't even been in town a year and can't read at a third-grade level.

I wonder which I will choose...?
My master card info was also stolen at the same gas station. I don't go there anymore unless I pay cash. I was lucky fraud alert stopped a $250 charge at the south outlet mall.
Was it at Quiksilver? That's where I got the alert for around 300$ as well
That's some scary stuff there...,,glad I never got involved in any of Uber's programs or rewards garbage.....

Same thing with me: 2 transactions, $ 10 and $ 50. The card was with me all the time. WAWA managers said they find skimmers in the pumps almost everyday.

I have been waiting a few weeks now on Uber for $209 in fraudulent charges I disputed with them. They keep insisting that I am responsible and that "liability lies with the drivers" - however I have pointed out repeatedly that MasterCard has a policy on this that protects us. I have a sneaking suspicion that Uber is just bullying drivers into eating the charges. I am going to wait the 30 days for them to complete their investigation and then file suit against them. Right now I am thinking of small claims, but if other drivers want to join, then we could go into federal court.

I was at the gas station at Swenson & Flamingo on pump #5 and I pushed in the nozzle properly and squeezed the trigger and gas started pouring from the seal all down on my wheel, nearly splashing on to me. Someone needs to fix that pump!
