Just be aware someone hacked my fuel card to the tune of $150 on one transaction. I went to the station where this took place and spoke to the manager. She checked her records and there are no transaction for that amount.

Uber will not do anything. Basically I'm out $150.

That sucks, I was hesitant to get the card for this very reason, there does not seem to be any protections built in. I will just take the points on my CC though some of those discounts advertised did seem tempting. Far too many bad reviews to try it out though.

Avoid it by driving less than 100 trips a month !

Fraud appears to be increasingly common. Uber takes your money to pay the fraudulent transaction, so they have no incentive to make it right for you.

Interesting thing Uber told me, they couldn't credit my account prior to dispute disposition because my pin number was used. I HAVE NEVER USED THE PIN AT ANY PUMP, so unless he was lying (wouldn't surprise me), the data breach is on their end.

I'm curious, how does giving less than 100 trips a month help?
You MUST give 100 trips a month to ACTIVATE the card.

These are the terms.

If 100 trips HAVE NOT BEEN GIVEN

THE CARD IS LEGALLY INVALID

AND YOU HAVE WRITING TO PROVE IT !

Therefore any debts would be INVALID.

Debt would not be assignable to you by Uber.

The Uber " contract" and terms for card activation are 100 trips.
Any less and Uber owes YOU compensation, interest, legal fees.

If they do not send a representative to small claims court where i have filed or respond within 30 days, a judgement will be levied against them.

That's the irony. I have not used my card for more than a month. Because I have not driven 100 trips. It got reactivated Monday May 22. I used it Wednesday May 24 for $49.43. A few hours later someone charged $150. It's kind of suspicious when the limit is $200 a week. Who buys $150 worth of gas at one time. Anyone can see that it's not normal. I told them to cancel my card and not give me another one.

Another note: I purchased gas at Chevron in Henderson at 4:59 pm. At 5:25 pm someone used it at Desert Inn and Pecos McCloud for the $150.

They told me the same thing. Did they ever credit you.

Yeah, I got hit for $158 when they hadn't taken $90 in previous (legitimate) charges yet.

More than likely a skimmer was on that pump. Someone got my Visa at circle k on Durango/Blue Diamond turns out hundreds of people did, it was on news
For many years, I have inspected card swipes for skimmers. It is a habit I never fail to follow. This wasn't skimmed at the pump. Or they have new skimmers that are entirely undetectable.

The sheriff was on TV a few months ago saying that credit card skimming is rampant in Clark County, and that noone should ever use a card at any gas station in Clark County.

I got both of my debit cards skimmed at Terrible Herbst stations. Fortunately, my banks were really great about it and took care of everything within minutes. So what I've done is get a ChevronTexaco card with a very low limit, so that if it gets skimmed the potential damage is very small and my bank accounts are safe.

I stay the hell away from fuel card and instant pay out card. I pay for my gas in cash .If you pay in cash for gas you always payless. I don't trust uber cards.

My master card info was also stolen at the same gas station. I don't go there anymore unless I pay cash. I was lucky fraud alert stopped a $250 charge at the south outlet mall.

You do know your bank account is FDIC insured against theft and fraud so if you got skimmed you wouldn't be liable for the $. Also most credit cards offer protection with card membership. Amex has never expected me to pay for fraudulent purchases. Maybe you should have real info before you go spouting, only spend cash at the gas pump bs logic

My understanding - Debit cards do not have the same fraud protection as a credit card.

I never use my debit, only for atm

Have never had to pay for any credit card fraud, a few instances in the past

We have no way of knowing how many Fraud cases there are with the Uber Fuel Card. :(
We do know that Uber is no help whatsoever if you discover a case of Fraud with your Fuel Card.
A normal credit card will limit your liability in the event of fraud, not Uber.
The best thing to do if you suspect Fraud or lose your Uber Fuel Card is to IMMEDIATELY
  • Report in-App, Account > Help > Account and Payment > Fuel Cards (scroll to bottom) > I lost or misplaced my Fuel Card
  • or Report it online.
  • or call (844) 271-5657 for (Comdata who issued the card) to cancel your card. Comdata cannot process a fraud notification or refund request.
Uber does have a way to report unexpected charges, but there are no reports of this process ever resulting in a refund. :(
