Ford SYNC Audio Issues

Does anyone have problems with the Uber Driver app and audio with Ford SYNC?

I use an iPhone 11 with Ford SYNC and keep running into a problem where after a while, notifications and turn-by-turn instructions come across the stereo as a phone call. This stops music from playing instead of ducking the music.

Earlier this year, I had an iPhone 6 that had this same reaction and I thought it was that phone’s age, so I upgraded and still had the same problem.

I recently rented a fully loaded Ford Edge with a different version of SYNC than my Focus and still had the same problem on that vehicle as well while using the Uber Driver app.

So, that makes 2 different iPhones on 2 different versions of SYNC having the same problem. Makes no difference if I use Bluetooth or USB.

Ford SYNC and Apple do not play well together.

I never got the ford sync in my truck to work worth a damned in my truck. The focus I have was even worse.

it keeps disconnecting and I’ve had to repair the device like 90 times.

I eventually gave up trying in the focus and the f-250 I pair before a long highway trek and it usually bonks out halfway.

Really depressing how badly ford sync works compared to Toyota.
I have the same issue, although I don’t have a Ford. The problem is I think the Uber app. I contacted support about it and they tried some stuff but the Kung-Flu shut me down so I haven’t been able to see if it was gone or not. Running an 11 pro max so I think it could be an Apple issue. Try contacting Uber support about it, if they get enough complaints maybe they will fix it
Sounds like an Apple thing. I had focus with "my ford touch" and now I have sync 3, used with different android based phones never seen issue like that. Sound pretty annoying
It’s the Uber app, it just has issues on Apple right now, nothing else including lyft is doing this weird stuff with the audio
Assuming you're using Bluetooth, only allow Bluetooth for phone calls, and not audio. Had this problem with my BMW not to mention the Bluetooth audio doesn't compare to direct aux in quality.... I use aux in for media, and Bluetooth for calls only....Now that I have it set up this way mine works fine and I can still take handsfree calls using Bluetooth, my phone like yours doesn't offer a headphone out ....only USB C, but you can buy an adaptor that will give you an 1/8 aux out and let's you charge your phone at the same time...

Here's a link for the one I use... Works great, phone stays charged all day while driving..

YOU HAVE A FORD ???

THE TRANSMISSION WORKS ????
I never mentioned that I also do food delivery for DoorDash and use the Apple Maps app for navigation and this problem never happens on that platform. So, I lean toward this being an issue with the Uber Driver app itself.

I started food deliveries in late 2018 with an old car that had a 3rd party car stereo and I didn’t have this problem until I bought my current car.
I have my archaic wireless linked to the SYNC in my Uber/Lyft car, so there is no problem there. In the cab, the android telephone in LYNCed to the SYNC, so I turn off the bluetooth on the telephone. I do not hear pings on either the telephone or the car's audio when the bluetooth is ON.

The Uber/Lyft car is a 2014 Fusion hybrid; the cab a 2015.
My 2020 Fusion with Sync 3.4 along with CarPlay (I have a X with the latest iOS) doesn't play well with Uber and I do believe it's Uber.

When I just use a Bluetooth connection if Uber pings for whatever reason Sync treats it like a phone call.

When I am using CarPlay Uber and the radio don't always sync. If a ping comes from Uber the music stops. I found that closing Uber and re-opening gets the two to play a little better and when I get a ping from Uber it just lowers the music for a brief second.
