And the message goes on to ask me for the phone number that I originally registered with UBER..... Happens at least once a day, maybe 10% of all the calls that I try to make to find a rider...

Anyone else have this happen to them? Does anyone know why it is happening?

Go to your Uber page, not the app, and check what phone number you put on your profile.

Update: it has continued to occur, happened 2x yesterday. I'm thinking it is some kind of connection problem... just what I have not yet determined.
Have you gone to GreenLight Hub? Would be my next step.

I thought that as well but OP said it's when he tried.to find a rider.

Maybe I just assumed he meant trying to find their pickup spot.
