Here's a story from USA Today outlining the process for stimulus payments. It is different from some information posted earlier here on UP. Highlights:

• First direct deposits will start to arrive today and tomorrow for about 50-60 Million taxpayers for whom the IRS has direct deposit information. Those deposits will take about 10 days to complete, so some will not receive payments until around April 20. Most of us should be in this group.
• The second set of deposits will go to Social Security recipients who do not have enough income to require income tax returns. Almost all of these recipients get their SS payments by direct deposit, so this should go quickly. Probably none of us are in this group.
• The final set of payments would be actual checks mailed to people for whom the IRS does not have bank account information. Checks will be sent to the people with lower incomes first.

That last bullet is the part that differs from what was posted earlier. The earlier posts assumed this was going to be the first set of payments -- but it's really the first set of checks and comes after the direct deposits. The objective of the program is to pump as much money into the economy as fast as possible, and obviously direct deposits are much faster than mailing checks.

Won’t get mine till August so stupid basing it on income. They’ll hopefully get the portal open to put direct deposit info in it so I can do it that way. I always owe around 10k a year and pay it with credit card so they don’t have my bank info

Single filers can earn up to $99,000 and qualify . But yes, the $1200 max payment is for people earning $75,000 or less. It's reduced by $5 for every $100 you earn over $75,000. I doubt many uber drivers will have that problem

That $1,200 i a supplement to other things. Those 43,000 folks who got laid off are going to be eligible for unemployment, and it's going to get granted no questions asked. (unlike us poor SOBs)

That $1,200 is just money to stimulate the economy, it's not to do anything but get us to spend it.

As to what the REAL unemployment is,

Well of the 3 million people in the orange/osceola/seminole/polk counties area 44,000 are getting laid off on the 19th. That's 1.4% of the population.

That's just disney, and those are just the people directly employed.

I don't know the % of the population that works in tourism/restaraunt industries in Miami, but i'm guessing it's pretty high to.
