Fill our tanks for the zero rides we expect to get? Maybe hang out outside an Amazon distribution center in the hopes that some Covid-19 infected worker needs a ride? Where the F*** do you think I'm going to need to go with all that gas?
If you're like many drivers with a hybrid.... A hybrid is a convenient generator in a pinch. Just hook up an inverter to the auxiliary battery with the car on. The car will keep the juice flowing as long as you have gas (and aren't overdrawing amps).

Also if they shut down stations there will be a MAD rush on gas, and you just don't want to be part of that.

This is not about Rideshare, this is about survival in a pandemic.

Speaking of, how long is it safe to keep a can of gas in the garage for?
Up to 2 years if the tank is properly sealed, and treated. To get the longest storage you want to fill the tank/can as full as possible and stored with stabilizer. Without stabilizer all the volatile parts of the gas disappear and it starts to oxidize, this leaves behind goo/deposits which can clog fuel injectors/carbs. Modern gas has ethanol in which which a problem because it attracts moisture.

My go to is Sta-Bil Marine - It's actually a better product and more cost effective than the original sta-bil red. Less product treats more gallons, and is specifically designed to deal with moisture/water problems that ethanol in fuel causes.

It's not a bad investment for your car - you don't know when you're going to burn through your tank - so it's best to do preventative measures to stop potential fuel system issues down the line.

Lol Facts. Now people are mistaking it for a zombie apocalypse?? Lol. Wtf would you need gas at a time like this. People are staying home not leaving? People are absolutely ridiculous.
There's a maintenance reason. Full tanks gas goes bad less quickly because it leaves less room for condensation and surface area exposed to air. Modern gas goes bad very quickly due to presence of ethanol. You don't know the next time you get to drive enough to cycle the tank, so a full tank is actually preventative maintenance.

You also don't want to be caught in a situation where pumps are closed by the gov. This will create a mad run on gasoline and you just might not be able to get any.

If you have a hybrid, a hybrid car is a great generator for power outages.

Then there's the apocalyptic aspect of having mobility. My Camry will get almost 700 miles on a full tank. That's a good way to get the **** out of Dodge.

The maintenance reason alone is reason enough.

before is bath tissues and now is gas
Dumb and dumber.
The CDC never mentioned collecting toilet paper like an idiot.

The CDC did recommend that you keep a full tank of gas for obvious reasons.

No gas no food.

Are you going to be the guy that's calling around asking "is anyone going to the store today I need some toilet paper?"

This is Fake News.

They want you to fill your gas tank because the capacity to hold oil is almost full. Once you tap a reserve you can’t easily turn it of

Result: they’re going to dump and burn oil soon.
Expect many “accidents” in the near future.

Also expect California to not cut gas taxes either. That why we pay 2.59 versus other states that are
paying 1.29.

You elected them, California
