There was a surge but for some bizarre reason the driver app wasn't updating fast enough. I did manage to do 2 short mild surge rides in the East.

It will surge from 4pm on and off until 6pm them surge hard until 8.30pm

Out of curiosity, I turn on app (Saturday night) after 6:30pm. Sydney is well on surge. The app allocates first job, 21 mins away in southern shire??? Huh?
Who'd be mad to drive 21 mins to pick up a shire pax? I let it time out.
One min later, another ping 25 mins away? Miranda???
Is the app trying to drag me away from core areas?

i just got lucky. I saw the surge starting from kingsford and around the east but not zetland. I still stepped near kingsford just about 50m. Got a ping from waterloo.. I decline lol then when i got to kingsford i was lucky to get a ping and gone to the rocks 1.7x surge wohoo!! Then another surge at bondi to city 1.5x surge. That gives me ahead of earning afterwards it got quite for 20min .. So i took a half hr break.

Sometimes I will set destination to a surge area and drive towards it but rare to get a ride towards a surge zone. Demand is usually away from the surge zone

The surge yesterday was small comparing to a normal Saturday pre dinner. Also the app was not updating surge zones very well.
Reason for the two above is the fare guarantee that pushed a lot of drivers into the roads and the Pandora radio overloading the system.

Just curious, do you live out that way? I have a theory that I've never had a job that far west because the app knows my home address is inner west.

That is about $150 . I don't live near that area . But I have being lots of time already like scoldfield and further

No I live down south, so it took me about 1 hour to get home. I did get another job straight after dropping them off, I then turned the app off and went home

Friday night got a surge 1.6x from Wynyard to Minto (48 kms). Finished the night after that, went home early. Passenger was happy of Uber because she says it's a lot cheaper than taxi. My guess, she was not aware that it was on surge when she booked the trip. Probably rated me below 5 when she got the bill. Lol
