I think we need to take a little closer look at who we are talking to here. This guy traded in a perfectly good depreciated toyota for a new electric Korean car for rideshare. If you had made such an incredibly dumbass mistake dont you think you would be mad at the world too?Constructive criticism? You better buy a dictionary.
'Come back?' This is a discussion board - we have dialogs here, and group discussions. There is a back-and-forth, by necessity. So, yes, if addressed, I will usually respond. I've never done well with , "sit down and shut up." I just don't do it.
You don't HAVE to do any such thing.
You can sit down and shut up.
I dunno - is she hot?
So you are a necrophiliac too, besides being a complete moron?I always take my Viagra with your mother she'll dump me if I don't.
That is an ant ... squared.
Awww, don't do that.Ok. He's blocked.
I have not been censored here without cause and notice. This forum is heavily censored by some liberal a hole...
it couldn't be...I have not been censored here without cause and notice.
Could it be perhaps you went a bit over the line?
We have plenty of operational charging stations in my LIBERAL state and we pay half or less than half what you do for a level 3 charge. SMHIMO every liberal should have one, they deserve it...
I am so happy for you.We have plenty of operational charging stations in my LIBERAL state and we pay half or less than half what you do for a level 3 charge. SMH
At PG&E rates you pay half?We have plenty of operational charging stations in my LIBERAL state and we pay half or less than half what you do for a level 3 charge. SMH
This is a fascinating dilemma that is playing out. Strategies are a mess regarding EV mandates. Even worse, now that the left has marked Elon Musk for the gulag, Tesla is persona non grata as a liberal purchase or stock investment. Liberals are undermining themselves and the dream of 100% EV’s is now a nightmarish scenario of increasingly unavailable parts for ICE vehicles. There are a number of drivers on this forum, and a lot more in the wild, that are doing just fine with an EV. I think though that the OP makes a good point in terms of how easy/hard it is to charge the car. Yes, if you live in an area that is short of a decent charging infrastructure (at home or on the road) and has poorly maintained stations, then an EV can be hellish. Sorry it is not working for you.
But again, EVs work for a lot of drivers. I am have been fully electric since 2018. My total bill to "fuel" the car is $40-50 /month for 1500-2000 miles. Low TCO is making the difference right now in terms of profitability.
Each new year should see the EV approach working for more drivers. that is IF the elected boobs running things do a much better job of maintaining/improving the grid. California has mandated the end of gas cars in a decade but our strategically brilliant governor hasn't lifted a finger to improve the grid. Quite the opposite.
Complete horse manure. We have plenty of operational charging stations in my LIBERAL state and we pay half or less than half what you do for a level 3 charge. SMH
Actually CA has built out its charging infrastructure quite well in the last few years, for travelers, and for highly concentrated population centers. Neighborhoods and rural areas perhaps not so much. But what was once a barely workable SF to LA run just 3 years ago for non-Teslas, is now a doable proposition. A lot of this has to do with Electrify America building charging stations as penance for Dieselgate. The bulk of the population have chargers now on well traveled corridors.Complete horse manure.
California may have cities and highways with heavy concentrations of charging but the state still has large areas that are not available to an EV owner if they only rely on publicly available charging stations.
I think you personal experience might be clouding your global perspective.
I can only speak to your last paragraph. An ICE vehicle will ALWAYS be less expensive TCO over the life of the vehicle. So I drive a 2022 model 3 LR. I wanted to reply to this uniformed individual personally.
"If you don't have a garage then don't get an EV because it's not worth it!"
False: owning a EV and getting the majority of it's benefits does NOT take a garage. The garage does not keep you from the benefits of no more gasoline, oil, antifreeze, water, transmission fluid, on and on.
"I traded my 2018 Camry for a Kia Niro EV and it's been nothing but a nightmare!"
This is your personal experience because you probably have no clue what it means to own and operate an EV and it's obvious because of what your run-on paragraph talked about.
"There's not enough chargers out there"
you are simply uneducated on the apps to find them. There are literally thousands of chargers.
Chargepoint and plug share are two major apps that will show you where all the free chargers are and I'm talking about thousands locally."
"and the ones that are out there don't work or they're offline or they're defected."
This statement is completely false. Well over 95% of the chargers if not 98% of the chargers work perfectly. The problem is is you don't know where they're at, any of them. Simply put you're still ignorant on where to find the chargers.
"Most of them are level 2 chargers and it takes twelve hours to charge"
This statement is absolutely true but you don't understand what a destination charger is what a level 2 charger is and what a supercharger is used for. You think that a level 2 charger is for fast charging and it absolutely is not. Level 2 charging and destination charging is for slow charging overnight for normal driving. Fast charging is for driving state to state. You are trying to use different charges for different things because you're uneducated. And then you want to complain about it when it's your fault.
"and the level 3 chargers take two hours but it'll cost you $25 bucks so I have charge it twice a day and waste four hours and pay $50 bucks to keep this car running."
This is a false statement it does not take 2 hours to charge your car at a supercharger. 15 minutes will get your battery at 80%. That's a minimum of 250 mi more than enough to get you on the road to drive people around. It might be your ignorance that has you sitting there for the last 20% because it takes 40 minutes for the last 20%. So again this is an ignorance issue. You don't understand how a car even charges. Of course you have to pay for electricity and even at the highest superchargers you're still paying the half the price of gasoline to take you the same distance. You make it sound as though it's costing you $50 to fill your electric vehicle up and it's not. It might cost you that to do it twice but if you were to do it with gasoline I guarantee 100% it would cost you two times as much.
"Then if it's cold out you lose half of your battery life."
Another false statement. You do not lose 50% of your battery unless you are in -40 to 60° weather. Now will you lose 10 to 25% absolutely true. But in all reality it is not negative zero 365 days a year. You act as though everyday it's Sub-Zero temperatures, do you live in the arctic? Be real in your statements not so ignorant.
"I was better off keeping my Camry it was cheaper."
Of course this statement is 100% true and 100% false. The Camry is not cheaper than the electric vehicle in everyday use. What you said is a lie and you said it because you are uninformed on how to operate and use an EV. The 100% true part is you were better off keeping your Camry. I hope you keep your Camry I hope you never ever get the benefits of an electric vehicle.
For anyone following this thread and trying to make sense of what it is like to own an EV, I would suggest you throw out everything this person said. They are totally off base. Discard everything. The OP is not stupid or ignorant. EVs don't work for everyone yet, especially in rideshare. I say this as a devout EVer for the last 5 years driving successfully for Uber and Lyft..
(nothing of value)
