Seriously, **** Uber. It’s impossible to make money on the platform anymore. I’m getting $13 offers for airport runs where the passenger pays $48. Who the **** is going to keep giving these rides? I’m netting like $40 for a 12 hour shift. This should be illegal. The government needs to regulate the take rate for the rideshare duopoly, but they won’t because they don’t want to upset the investors. After 7 years and 30,000 rides I’m ****ing done with this shit. **** Uber, **** their investors, and **** the passengers. None of them deserve my time, effort, or use of my vehicle at these shitty rates. Rideshare industry is irreparably ****ed. I’m done

Not gonna lie long rides dropped payout a lot, but lyft still keeps me busy in lehigh valley, i just stopped doing yellow cab in nyc because of how slow it gets, uber seems to charge 27 dollars for what lyft charges 18 so you can imagine which one stays busier here.

but here is city seems quite different. lyft no sharing and prices very high to pass....smaller than uber to drivers.
if city to airport is lyft $50 we may get $10
uber we might see mid $20's or at least a surge bonus of what it may be...$5 - etc
i believe on the long trips thier cut is smaller with uber as the trip prices to pax are to low in a big city..

At any rate, nothing on either platform is worth doing anymore. They killed the 4am airport runs strategy, rates on all daytime trips are cut down to the cost of gas. If you go out for 12 hours you might get $150 before fuel expenses. There’s no point in providing services for either company anymore.

Cost of gas? Barely. $9 trips from PHL to CCP most of the day.

Go look in the low ball thread. I saw a couple from around Princeton yesterday I'll be posting that were mindblowing, but at the same time unsurprising. And they never bounced back, which is sad, as human beings took these people for far, far less than a buck a mile.

I don't know how some of these people I see afford some of these vehicles, honestly.

I did a good number yesterday that could have been better, 6 trips. Lots of downtime. Two people here know how. Having said that, I saw an absurd take level on one of the trips I did, it was close to 50%. So I'll say very, very little is worth doing anymore.

I was in Philadelphia on Sunday for a family gathering. Wasn't driving, but put on the app to see what rolled out of the game. Noted an absence of surge and very few trips out of the game worth doing. A handful of CCP at about $30, but a lot of barely above base rate trips. There was a major divisional football game with playoff implications, an event at the Wells, and the city was mostly gray the entire afternoon. I remember seeing Downingtown from the Linc for $53, barely above what a base would pay; Hopewell, NJ for $65, Ambler for maybe $45. I did see Levittown for $50 which is a better, but not outstanding number, or maybe because the rates have been so compressed, like seeing Bensalem to/from CCP or airport for like $27, that my expectations are all wrong.

The airport rates most of the day scare me.

NYC from Philadelphia for around $110 is NOT worth it.

As a wise man from Levittown had said here, the way to win the game is to not play. I didn't expect to come back to this last year, but I had to. Lyft went first with the absurdity in upfront fares, and there are people accepting these s**t rides. So the bar goes lower. Another wise man here said yesterday these might be the offers we'll see for now, because there is a ready stream of people to take them. I wouldn't be surprised if they go lower still. But I won't be doing them.

It's really crazy the low pricing...as long as uber. Lyft gets 40-50% its ok..

It’s really getting to the point that most drivers would be better off getting their flip on at McD. Some those places are even offering instant pay for the crackheads among us and name your own scheduling for those that do gig work because they need the flexibility.

By this time next year, all drivers will be better off shaking fries instead of driving if this pattern continues. It’s a shame because this really was a good thing not too long ago.

It's January. January always sucks. It will get better
Okay but let me ask you this; if they can offer say, a trip from Center City to the airport for $9 and somebody takes it now who's to say they won't take it later? I was in Center City last night. I saw two trips specifically from Center City down to the Wells Fargo. One was $9 and change the other was 12. They never bounced back people took these. I saw an airport for 12, sometime between 5:00 and 6:00, on the trip radar. No way in hell I was taking that. But somebody did.

I was in Center City the weekend of the Eagles and Steelers game back in October. Sunday morning the entire city was blood red. But I saw a ton of offers from say the Drexel or Fairmount areas down to the stadium 35 to 40 minutes of traffic for 13 bucks. Somebody took these.

I was in Princeton on Monday. Saw two specific trips I posted in the other thread about low balls. I ignored them I didn't even decline them; they never came back. Somebody had to have taken them.
Commerce Square to Collegeville last night at 5:15 for $38. Somebody took it. 45 plus minutes of rush hour traffic up 95 from Center City to Bensalem for $27. I see these all the time. I see New Yorks all the time, whether Manhattan Brooklyn or JFK, and they all seem to top out around $115 to $125. Somebody takes them. 30th Street to State College, 195 miles, 3 and 1/2 hours one way, $180 bucks. Washington DC from Rittenhouse Square, $176 and at the bare minimum 2 hours of unpaid dead miles, tolls and traffic back. Somebody took it.

A lot of posters here all over the United States think of this as an hourly job. It's not. They're all happy horseshit because they think they make $20 an hour, when all things considered they probably did less than $5/hr.

I read stories here occasionally about people from Pennsylvania that take people up to Newark airport or New York and the app doesn't even work in New Jersey, and they're happy as pigs in slop to dead mile home. I'm sure Uber appreciates your service to the community.

Asking another way, what incentive do they have to raise the rate if these monkeys are going to take the offers at these insane low balls?

They have the opposite of incentive. Apparently, there’s more than enough monkeys out there willing to take these trips for bananas. It won’t end until and unless their monkey asses quit being retarted, but that would be just like expecting monkeys to quit flinging poo, or eating bananas for that matter, and it’s in Ubers interest to get the monkeys to take the trips for as few bananas as they’re willing to settle for.

Back during covid when all the monkeys were afraid to drive and/or getting free cheez from the feds, it surged constantly and big too. That ended when the cheez ended last September, just like I said it would. I wouldn’t bet on these monkey ass drivers developing intelligence anytime soon but I would absolutely bet on them becoming more desperate as Uber gets progressively more stingy with their banana rations going forward and plan accordingly.

Bro to the OP why is everyone's solution have the government come in and be big daddy. We need to be able to set our own rates that that's the end of it. No daddy gov needed

What's the problem?

I got me an offer tonight:
11 minutes away
Going for a 19 minute ride.
Half hour of work, for a whopping $4

After taking away the cost of gas, I made enough money to get a small fry at McDonald's. Those is sum good fries, and I only had to work a half hour to get them.

Where's the problem?

Lehigh Valley PA is a terrible place to drive. All the trips are short and low commission. Also nobody tips. My average rides only pay me $4.40 and I get 1 million of them a day. I’ve actually been driving to Philadelphia to drive lately. I average running Philadelphia’s $18 and up.

Philadelphia just makes me super depressed, i have not seen a city that rough ever. Driving there is very rough on your car too, but yeah you can make more faster for sure. But constantly having to go offline to drive back to better areas sucks.
