I drove these 4 drunk women home on Sunday night. One of them was in her 50's and drunk off her ass. I opened and kept the door open for her, but she had the hardest time getting out of the car and almost fell face first onto the pavement.

Would I have been in any way responsible?

I've never opened a door for a pax, but we may not be driving the same "class" of pax...

You're an Uber driver, so you're always responsible. Driving for Uber is like going down the freeway with a big sign on your car that says, "Sue me, I'm worth $68 billion."

A personal judgment against an Uber driver would essentially be worthless. Nobody would bother to sue you unless they thought they could get to Uber or your insurance company. If something actually happened she would sue you and Uber for vicarious liability because uber is the deep pocket. I would guess that Uber would both defend you and claim you are a contractor therefore they are not responsible in order to defend themselves.

Two rules:
1. Stay judgement proof. If you have assets don't do this business.
2. Never touch a rider. If they can't get into or out of the car themselves, don't help. If they are drunk let them fall. Never leave your seat except to help with luggage and let them open their own door.
