After a many month hiatus, I'm back to the driving game to fill in some schedule gaps. I've searched forums but couldn't find an answer to this...how long does it take to get your paperwork from Uber to pickup and drop off at LAX and what do you do in the meantime? What I mean is, if you receive a ride request to go to LAX but you aren't allowed to, do you just turn down the trip when you arrive to pick them up? I'm thinking that's gonna create some pissed of PAX and some possibly rough situations.

I haven't done a trip yet, but drivers still aren't able to see destinations before the pick up or has that changed?

Thanks for any help!

First you win't get any airport pings unless you are in TNC zone. And to be in TNC you gotta have airport permit. So forget about picking up at airport till u get ur permits

I think she's asking about drop offs, not pick ups.

For me it took a month to get my permit. They said my email was never attached to the survey so the system wasn't registering my answers to the questions.

Had to go to the office twice to get that fixed. If you do the test and go to the office in westwood they can print you out a temp permit, which was something I also didn't know.

As for the question for pick ups, I would just ask them if they were going to the airport. Uber allows you this because they want you to cancel airport requests. It's a thousand dollar ticket.

If it's a nice run though, I'd just ask the rider if they would sit in the front explanining the situation.

I didn't encounter anyone saying no or complaining about it, except one girl who was supet high maintenance but also really hot, like model type.

She just wanted to make sure I wasn't making shite up to hit on her or something, cause I said we have to act like we know each other, which later down the road turned into a joke and she even gave me a hug at end of the ride.

I'm mumbling again. To make it short: Ask the pax, make them sit in the front or cancel. Never drop off with an uber sign with no permit. They'll write you up.

I got a "temporary" permit via email about a week after I took the test. I just printed that out. Got the real one a week later. They look the same. I started driving a month ago so at orientation what they said to us is that if we got a ride to LAX before we received the permit, we could offer to take them to the economy parking lot C and they catch the shuttle from there. Otherwise, we have to cancel.

I took the test the day it first came out and I still haven't gotten mine. After going through it again (third or fourth time) last week I was all stoked because I saw that Uber package in the mail only to open it up and find two shiny new trade dresses.

Do you have to pay to get out of Economy Lot C ?
The first 15 minutes is no charge at all. Drop the passenger off at one of the many bus stops inside the lot, and skedaddle to the exit. I've only been charged once (for $4.00), when it was night and the young lady passenger didn't feel safe waiting by herself, so I stayed 'til the bus arrived.

There are instructions printed on the signposts next to each bus stop, for the passenger to check out, but it's all fairly simple. Shuttle bus runs every 10 to 15 minutes, 24 hours a day.

Even if passenger initially agrees to Parking Lot C instead of the terminal, almost all of them will try to get you to change your mind when you get near the airport. Stick to your guns, if you don't have that permit yet. :)

Take a picture of a permit and blow it up and laminate it. No one will know the difference. Nobody stops to investigate the numbers they just look to see if it is there........
