Yes, it's easy. Stop taking UberPool. If you can't make it without the guarantees then you shouldn't be driving anyway.

Yes, it's easy. Stop taking UberPool. If you can't make it without the guarantees then you shouldn't be driving anyway.

You guys are so amazing and wise. I wish I could take a post that somebody put some thought and care into and then dimly denigrate it with pearls of your simplistic and mantastic wisdom. Maybe San Francisco is a different market than where you are. Maybe they do need ride counts to make money. I know in L.A. you can make money without guarantees and boosts and all that but it's a lot easier and you'll make a lot more if you have them. Your snide "Just don't take them. Simple. See how smart I am?" attitude helps nobody and is inaccurate besides because it's not simple. You might be, but this has a little more nuance.

I'm 40 miles outside downtown Chicago and absolutely REFUSE to accept any POOL requests. Many of these from drunkards on their way back to their million dollar+ homes who know damn well there will never be a POOL match. UBER created this monster, they can suck it up if their riders are unhappy...boohoo, spoiled entitled brat couldn't save a buck on his already dirt-cheap ride. I regularly receive the UBER threat about my acceptance rate and the "customer experience" and simply remind them that I'm an independent contractor and need to operate in my best interests. Go board a plane and tell the pilot he's getting paid $1 less per mile just because you feel like it. Then prepare to be tackled and tased by the air marshall.

Pilots don't make $1 per mile anyway. But they don't pay for jet fuel

Apparently,they can go lower.

I don't know about anywhere else, Im from Chicago and I NEVER accept pool.... But today I got a ping that DIDN'T say pool..... 3 riders 1hr 7min, a 1/4 tank of gas. I made $9. Not sure if they have changed the ping alerts for all of us, if lt was a mistake or its intentional bc we aren't accepting enuf pools here. But BEWARE

If you are going after guarantees and bonuses, you do need to take the pool rides because it will affect your acceptance rating. If you can find profitable areas and do not accept the pool rides you do not need to chase guarantees or bonuses. I only do rides from SFO. I do mainly lift some Uber, primarily because Uber is no longer displaying if it is a pool or regular ride, and because Lyft gives me rides before over now. Because of this, I'm expending more time on the freeway, so my expenses, specifically on gas have decreased, the amount I'm making per ride has increased, so it's overall more profitable for me. I'm not having to work doing a million rides and trying to make small pennies add up to stuff. I'm doing less rides, have more down time, and I'm making more money. Find what works for you but do not be bullied and know that you do not have to worry about your acceptance rating if you are not chasing guarantees and bonuses. The bonuses and guarantees are only meant to supplement slave wages to make it seem as if you are actually making money.

Here the app used to put UBERX or POOL above the timer circle on the accept screen. Now it's under the timer circle in the same line as the rating and surge pricing. Also instead of being white text that line seems to beva Grey that you can see against the black but you gotta look close.
