Driver shoots robber in Duquesne PA

Be careful out there. A Jitney driver-driving an unlicensed cab- was released by the police after questioning. A man attempted to rob him in Duquesne, he pulled out his firearm and blew him away.

There is a lot to be said for carrying a gun especially if you are driving in sketchy areas (like the city of Duquesne)

Indeed you are right. The key was that he shot him *fatally* and that usually means the end to the end of his life in crime.

But if you will also note that the driver was a jitney- strictly unlicensed- and the police just told the old timer to get the hell out of there, no citations. Not everywhere is as strict with their laws about driving as some of the locations people discuss here on UP
If he was unlicensed he possibly leaves himself open to prosecution and also to be charged in civil court. I don't know PA laws well enough however in most states if you are performing an illegal act you may not have the right to self defense.

Glad he was able to successfully defend himself and I hope taking a life does not haunt him for the rest of his life.

Just for the record, I am fully prepared to deal with taking a life if that is the result of me defending myself or my family. Anyone who plans on defending their life with lethal force should clearly think about this before they are placed in that position. You don't want to be second guessing your self at the hast moment.
