So am I to believe that even though I just got my car inspected, I still have to go and get another inspection by an Uber approved location to get my permit? Am I missing something, cause this makes no sense at all!

That depends on what inspection you just got. The TX state vehicle inspection enables you to drive your personal vehicle legally on TX roads. The Dallas transportation regulation "Transportation-for-Hire vehicle" permit requires an additional inspection at a Dallas-approved, not Uber-approved, facility.

This permit is required for pickups at Love Field, also required in order to receive the DFW airport pickup sticker. And it is technically required for operation within the city of Dallas, however, you can operate pretty safely without one for now (just avoid airport pickups).

Uber does not inspect your vehicle in the DFW market. Once your background check is complete and you provide proof of vehicle registration and insurance, Uber will start sending you passengers.

That does not mean you are "legal" in all areas of Dallas - legality is your responsibility. You will need to get the Dallas transportation for hire driver permit, vehicle inspection at a Dallas approved facility (then retrieve the sticker someplace), and DFW airport sticker, on your own to be legal in all service areas.

My car was just state inspected in August. I was able to apply and submit my registration as an upload online. Guess we'll see if it works.

"A copy of your current vehicle registration is required before a Transportation-for-Hire vehicle permit will be issued. If your current vehicle state tag expires more than 3 months in the future, you may obtain an interim permit without a 31-point inspection."
