Since we're not employees, nor taxi drivers, but only amateur, independent car owners being matched (in theory) with individuals going the same way we were already driving, I don't see how standards of "professionalism" can be applied to us detrimentally.
I had a sit down with an Uber employee recently. Not a Greenlight Hub employee, but an actual Uber employee. I expressed my distaste of the whole "Entertainment" and perfoming for these pax since we are basically independant cabbies. I'm not there to coddle the pax. Uber explained it to me as this:
"Uber is not just a transportation company. That's what sets us apart from the whole taxi thing. Uber is based on community and comraderie with their riders. Uber's standards are to give that passenger a very personable, friendly, and welcoming experience with their drivers while utilizing the platform. Drivers are expected to engage with passengers and encourage that sense of community and comfortness where the passenger will continue to use the Uber Platform."
Yes....we are expected to entertain the Pax. Now that whole speech the Uber employee gave me is typed out almost exactly as she said it. I left out the part where HeyNow321 leaned over and pointed his finger in her face, interrupting her and screamed "bullshit!"
