today I get a 45+ minute ride request. I was near midway. I accepted hoping it will take me to northeast suburbs. I called rider, told me ride was going to north aurora.

I apologized to him that I can't take the ride and cancelled accordingly. Thank god for this new feature or I would be screwed.

I'm sure some sucker took it without even asking and that sucker probably got a tip because of ur refusal. If it was on a surge then yea.

Last week I had a midway to Lockport, I hated that trip, I wanted to go back to city

Depending on whether or not I was trying to get home for the night, I would have taken that ride, then set a destination filter for home. That would have been a pretty good fare.

I did reject one tonight though. I was in Woodstock on my way back to CL, and got a ping in Marengo. It was 20 minutes out to pickup, so I texted. He said he was going to Garden Prairie. That's near Belvedere. Pretty much a guaranteed hour deadhead ride home. No thanks.

Holy Christ! I won't even take a second look at a 20+ ping in that area. Ugh.

Be careful doing that; if enough pax report you for phoning to check their destination you could be fired. This new long trip "feature" was brought in by Uber to try to eliminate ride destination discrimination, not to help drivers. Now drivers will find it more difficult to justify denying rides with the "oh, I can't go there - I'm picking my child up from school in half an hour" reason.

That would have been a good payday.
Good point and I should of taken it because it was the morning with lots of room to manuver. I guess at times I'm skittish from being burned in the past.
Last Friday at 5pm I declined a 45+ request with a 1.7 surge. Im still regretting that I didnt even call the pax to see where the destination was. If I took it, the hard part could of been getting back to the city. I get real turned off when I hear about requests that are way out of the Chicago metro area.

I would've taken it if it had a surge. i normally would've done that ride, but I knew that there was a John Mayer concert in tinley park that will get a high surge rate.

Wanted to be close to do that one. I was right about that surge. Did 1 at 5.0x to go 3 miles. Did another one at 7.6x to go 13 miles. Both of those rides together doubled the amount that north aurora at 1.0x would've paid out.

Remember with this crappy gig, work smarter and not harder.
