Did you accept that one? 3.8 and pool?

My rating scheme is no tip 4* or lower.
Make me wait over 2 min or not at your pin minus one or two*.

Act like a ****** 1* automatic

Tip 5*

I've told pax that ask why their rating is low. "Do you tip?" Usually they say no you don't have to with uber. I shrug my shoulders and say that's why your rating is low

I took the trip. it was in front of the CVS across the TD Garden. The guy was outside smoking. He was making some signals with hands to wait for him to finish his smoke. After the second minute I wave him for goodbye. Collected the fee

I only give 5 star either if pax are super nice and made me wait less than 2 min, or pax tips me $5 or more, or if pax was waiting outside before even I arrrived. Other than that every pax get 4 star or less depending on their attitude. I have rated lot of 1 star to my pax lately , I think they were mad because of surge but it's not my problem.

Here's a rating system I suggested a while back.
I was thinking about how to rate pax and thinking that to keep it fair it should be a standard system. Here's some ideas.

  1. Pax does not put in destination, they don't care that you would like it, and they're not appreciative of the ride, -1 star
  2. Pax does not accurately put in pickup location, no deduction if they're close and you can work it out.
  3. Pax does not accurately put in pickup location by a significant amount and they aren't willing to help set it straight, -1 star
  4. Pax thinks you are unhappy with what you have on the radio and wants you to change it to what they like, -1 star
  5. Pax changes the radio without asking, -2 stars
  6. Pax adjusts controls in your vehicle, -3 stars
  7. Pax expects water, snack, or anything else for free, -2 stars
  8. Pax causes a 2 minute wait after arrival, -1 star
  9. Pax causes a 3-5 minute wait and does not appreciate your wait, -2 stars
  10. Pax causes a 5+ minute wait, does not offer to compensate you for wait, -3 stars

Ready when I arrive and a tip = 5 stars
Ready when I arrive, no tip = 4
Make me wait 0-5 with tip = 4
Make me wait 0-5, no tip = 3

1 star deduction for door slamming, touching my radio, rudeness, etc.

I will note that I have 1 starred a few tippers - in guy $3.20 ride, $10 tip, 1 star - he insisted on backseat driving down to telling me what lane I needed to be in, he was a tourist. First request I arrived, he told me they'd be ready in 30 mins, explained Uber was on demand and to cancel and request when ready. 1.5 hours later I get the request again, made me wait 5 mins. You can see why I 1 starred his butt.

I doubt pax get kicked off for anything short of serious safety violations, honestly.
However, drivers can simply decide to let the pings of pax with sub-4 ratings time out.
One caveat should be noted, though: while some like the OP rate pax according to how they treat their drivers (are they in the right place on time? do they tip? do they make a mess in your car/fiddle with your ac + radio controls w/o permission?), some rate according to their prejudices. In my area, even the good South Asian and Middle Eastern passengers in my area tend to have very low ratings around 4.0-4.4 on the star-rating TNCs.

I'm a 1* or 5* kind of guy myself - if you weren't bad enough (safety violation or severe damage/fouling of my car) to merit a 1-star and report to Uber, then you get a 5. I don't agree with the majority opinion on down-rating pax for not tipping, to be honest - tipping should be voluntary and earned, not extracted from pax out of fear of retaliation.

As far as the waiting situation goes, that could and should be fixed by Uber and other TNCs by starting "the meter" at 5 minutes after the driver arrives at the pin drop. Make sure the pax app displays the "meter" running, and the dollars and cents slowly going up as time passes. Having to pay $ before they're even in the car will motivate most pax to get moving, and to communicate clearly where they're at in apartment complexes to keep that meter time down. It also benefits TNCs to motivate pax to be on time, so that the driver can earn them additional per-ride revenue.

aka: LYFT :p

(Actually, LYFT starts the meter running ONE (1) minute after arrival!) ;)

5 mins? With the app showing where the car is on route, how many cars are nearby before even request a ride, etc there is no reason why the pax shouldn't be outside in 1 min. I think 2 mins is a reasonable amount of time to wait. More than that upaid is rediculous at the current rates.

The whole pax vs. driver ratings is uber thinking they are slick once again. This is valuable data . It is a way to keep control of their system (pax and drivers alike )by threat of deactivation. It goes along with the thinking of using our tips as a selling point for their business. When it comes to rating pax I have never given less than five and hope they reciprocate .
