In reply to the first post. Here's my strategy. I drive afternoon & nights surges in DC. It's a 8 minute drive to DC for me. I hit up a sweet spot for pings and just wait for surges. They come fast, so be real down time. Make a good coin working surges, and if I get a long haul, I call it a night.

well if you play the surge only game, you can check for surges without signing into the driver app
the driver app is like this picture, where you can see all the surges in one glance
the rider app you have tap and move, tap and move.... and then tap and move some more, to check where surges are at AND how much the surge is

Played the surge tonight at the music festival, it was surf & turf...get them across memorial bridge, dump them get back for more. Surging, every pax said they were cancelled at least once. I made good loot, $35 an hour on surges, quit at midnight.

I keep trying to enlighten you all..I signed in @5pm..cancelled everything under 1.5x..took an hour nap + stopped to sit & eat for 30 mins somewhere in between..still managed to do 9 trips..all surges 1.5x-1.8s..rule of thumb for me at least is..CRUMBS ARE FOR PIGEONS/SLOP IS FOR PIGS/TRASH IS FOR RODENTS..HOW ARE YOU FEEDING YOURSELF??? I'm sure as hell not going out like that..
