I would think that if I was in an area that was surging, pings would be coming in non-stop. It's surging because it's busy, right?

Instead, you get constant pings outside the surge area or on the fringes of it.

Then to top it off, you get a drop off at South Station in the AM. No boost or surge paid there. And I get pings non-stop for pickups in the Financial District.

If there are non-stop pings, shouldn't it be surging?

A couple of looks at this:

The purpose of surge is to trick drivers to go online and then have it go away asap. Its like a carrot on a stick to make you think you can make $ with uber.. its all mind manipulatuion.. they will purposly give you 1 long ride that makes you good $, get you hooked in, then toss you a bunch of short crap rides.. they manipulate the system how ever they want.

Its your job to manipulate back. Dont accept any non surge rides below 1.7 or if you do a 1.5, call the pax, ask desitination, and if really short, just cancel on them..
