Yep!

Doing deliveries in Houston for Uber will starve you to death, so run UberX and deliver with Dash and earn!

In Austin you can pull off doing Eats, Dash and Hub for a living but not in H-Town…

Haven’t tried Dallas but might next month!

guarauntee the 1% who make the good money its 90% luck

lucky they already owned a fully depreciated or close to xl vehicle

cuz 99.9% of x tier aint makin no doe cuz .60 a mile dont ever add up its 2023 not 1971 when that was a legal n regulated fare paid to drivers

lucky they can get rides from home so their not out idling burning fuel/money

lucky they not desperate and can pick and choose

lucky they live 30+ miles from an airport

lucky they like to wake up early

aint nothing about this job rocket science

every market has a handfull of areas that are great with a handful of drivers

but 99% of requests on x are human loss leaders they pay UNDER minimum wages after costs PERIOD
90% of xl requests are the same

You should follow this member:
You know the minimum wage in 1970 was about $3
Fast food workers here are are getting $15
I make between 30-40 an hour for however many hours I choose to work
Those taxi drivers must have been making 250k
If you can see cows or corn you should just quit..

As far as following a member is concerned I learned that Uber's pay rates are comparable to 1970s taxi rates from Another Uber Driver, who is the former moderator of the DC Forum. He's got 40 years experience in all facets of the taxi business and 9 years experience as an Uber driver. He's an owner/operator DC taxi driver as well as an Uber driver.

He discussed the comparison between current day Uber pay rates and old taxi rates many many times on this website.

Your earnings claims have changed somewhat over the last couple of weeks. Two weeks ago you talked about the dangers you faced driving thru Chicago for $20 per hour. Now you're saying it's $30-$40 per hour. Which is the correct number?

A brand new rideshare law just started in Washington State that includes pay raises for the drivers among other improvements. Their pay rates are now among the highest in the US (I realize that's damning with faint praise). Hopefully their success rate will be higher than the numbers you posted.

Trips originating in Seattle will pay 58 cents per minute, the rest of the state will be 34 cents per minute. Both per minute rates beat anything paid in the US with the exception of NYC, which is 49.5 cents per minute.

I think I said if you drive during the day and
take every ping you get you'll make 20
That is most definitely not me 😉

Okay, I agree with about half of these.

For me:

Definitely NOT luck
Partly depreciated vehicle.
Agree @ 60c a mile but I'm making more than double that.
Can NOT get rides from home. 50 miles to the hot zone (and worth it).
Airport here is nothing to bother with. Very small.
Definitely NOT waking up early. I work overnights, mostly on weekends.
AGREE it's not rocket science
AGREE that 99% of requests (taking all markets into account) are garbage. In my market, only 10% are garbage.

Everything you are thinking applies to anyone living in a 60c a mile market. I wouldn't even start my car.

So we agree on some, but you have to understand that @25rides7daysaweek and I and some others, are in a nice niche.

Otherwise Uber would suck and I would be doing something else.

Another key factor - good as a side gig (in my market), not good as a main gig.

Carry on. :)

Security jobs pay is egregious compared to how much money they make from the contract. Security companies make upwards of $35 an hour per officer and only pay you minimum wage. So you’re right back to where you were with Uber and Lyft with Allied Universal, taking more than half of your pay.

The only security contracts worth working for are armed or federal. Also working overseas in the Middle East can pay upwards of $150,000+ but you must pass a physical exam and have military experience.

you’d make way more money just driving for Uber black or Lyft black then working security.

I have tested most markets in Texas, so it depends on my mood and where I want to work.

Austin is ninety minutes from me and Houston is sixty like College Station.

If I go to Dallas it will be a weekend stay over because that is a drive for me but I should give it a try.
Problem with that strategy is the vehicle costs going to and from those areas without a customer paying. At 70 cents an odometer mile to cover the business end, will eat into profits really quick. Hotel room is another added expense, including eating out.

Except for that fluke 50 mile reservation which I assumed I was going to be paid my normal rate card and got screwbered, I rarely take anything that isn't going to make $+1 per mile including tip.

That pizza delivery mom and pop in a safe local short area. Destroys uber and Lyfts pay in great times imho. You get more exercise. You do $30 +hr cash. Wear on car is min. I did it for many years at night. Most night 50 stops 50 miles.
I came back last year like 3 nts a week. @ $800 plus a week. I grew tired of the walmart pace...so I grew my wheelchair business more...5 to 6 days $1500 a week at a great store can be done. Dash. Pizza hut.NFW..JUNK IN THE TRUNK.
Must be mom and pop. And super busy. Theses places are busy everyday
This job is 75% of citys for uber x is done. You need xl min. Lux...priemer...at the min..you will have certain citys that are still great..

I can tell you one thing. I predominately drive between noon and 5pm. Probably the least profitable hours. Before knowing destination, the only criteria were distance to pick up. If I was lucky, I could discern the approximate location by the map that pops up with the request. Often times the map wouldn't be oriented properly and what I thought was something east turned out not to be the case. Now everything is laid out for me. I only take shorties if the pickup is less than 1.5 miles away and even then, it's no guarantee.

Bottom line is I can barely gross $20 an hour. There is exception but not often. Very little surge, maybe $2-3 during peak time, and then only in the worst parts of town for the most part. Quests are insulting $55 for 80 rides. Boost, the same $1.50 - $2 and again in the worst parts of the state.

I still pick rides that are profitable, mostly due to the distance and the fact that the majority of the ride are highway miles. HUGE difference.
