I recently got a ticket for not having a permit when picking up at the dfw airport. I went to uber office in fort worth and they advised i need a permit to pick up at airport. But they stated i can dropoff without a permit. I dont want to spend all that money to get a permit and would prefer to just drop off instead. Anyone else experience this issue?

Yup. Last week! I am in the exact same boat. The permit is not justifiable from a financial standpoint for me. How many tickets did you get?

Well, Uber's prior standpoint to have our backs 100% is complete BS. I live by DFW and have been pinged back to back being 7 - 15 miles away. I sort of feel pressured to skirt the law and sneak in for a quick pick-up. Well, my first time doing so at DAL, I received a ticket. I received the same response from Uber.

As Uber is a 'software' company, my issue here is that Uber has the data available (Driver Profile = Permitted or Not Permitted and Drivers Location = In the designated pickup zones or actual driver location outside of airport). If Driver does not have permit, Uber does not dispatch rides to said driver. Similar logic would help us drivers when driving a greater distance picking up a rider to only drive them less. This happens constantly to me.

Seriously considering the risks over rewards here and the rewards are falling towards Uber. May wait out Uber until they start treating drivers as partners rather than pawns for profit.

I didn't get a DFW permit as i have zero interest in driving to Ft Worth and get stranded. I will drop off at DFW then log off and scoot. I have the proper inspection and permit for Love Field, Easy peasy to pick up there and 99% are dropped off in Dallas. Uber could easily block DFW airport pings to drivers without the permit but they are too lazy to fix their app and too greedy to pass up money you will make them and could care less if you get a ticket. Been driving Lyft past 2 days after Uber's bs keeps getting worse every day. Today a Lyft pax tipped me 10 bucks on a 4 dollar fare. Shove THAT up your fat ass Alex.

So the $20 permit is too costly? I am guessing $.11 bottles of water are out of your price range to... Uber on!
Note that I have all permits, but I think you are misrepresenting the total cost of a DFW airport permit.

$53 for the city of Dallas transportation for hire driver permit (includes cost of permit + background check)
$50 average cost of city of Dallas transportation vehicle inspection
$3 cost of vehicle inspection sticker from above
$20 cost of DFW airport pre-arranged ride sticker
$126 Total cost to pick up legally at DFW airport

Curious, how did you get caught? I have to admit, I've picked up twice, illegally. Only because I got an immediate ping as soon as I ended the drop off. I'm not going to risk it again though!

Try reading what i posted you arrogant a-hole always bragging how well you're doing as u destroy a car .85 miles at a time. I said i wasn't interested in picking up at DFW….never said i couldn't afford or wouldn't pay the 20 bucks. As for water? At what Uber robs us over? Pax can bring their own damned water.

Just so you all know a little more about this issue. You need a permit to do the following activities and can receive a ticket if you do not have the proper permits. Pickup/Drop-off ANYWHERE in the ENTIRE city of DALLAS!!!!!!.

I've been fortunate so far as I have only got two warnings the first was picking up at Lovefield and the second was dropping off. But the law states you need one for all of Fallas as does the Uber information on this see your last Uber weekly update for the weekending of Saturday the 26th as because I'm very new here I can't post the link.

I've been talking to Uber about the issues of this and not accepting rides to/from the airport since they carry the greatest risk but remember you are still at risk in all of Dallas. I got a canned response from them stating that if my acceptance ratting falls to low I will get dropped as a partner.

What we have here is a big war between the city and Uber with us drivers being used a pawns.

We need to do something about this before the police start getting hip and conducting raids/stings on us. Once the city figures out they can make a lot of cash in fining the drivers you can bet they will try to collect on this.

Pass this information around fast!!!!!

Or... you know... you could just go get the necessary permits like most of us have already done?

I'm working on that and started the day I started on Uber. Submitted the application on September 8th. Still waiting for background check to complete. Called office on two different days now. Took me about 20 minuets just to leave a message that they have not returned.

Gotcha. Sorry if I came across rude there.

I never had much luck handling the process online or via telephone, I ended up just going to the transportation office a few times until everything was worked out.

Good luck!
