After 5 years and EV will start being cheaper than an ICE or Hybrid but who the heck keeps a vehicle that long anyway? The seats get worn out, stuff no longer works or can't be repaired, the suspension is shot, especially from the weight of all those batteries.
Typical turnover for an EV is currently 3 years. Not 10. It's because the range starts dropping or the constant charging drives owners insane.
Then there is another thing especially for rideshare drivers, a full time driver can put on close to 100,000 miles a year on a vehicle. Much higher than the typical 12,000-15,000 miles an average person does annually.
This tends to prematurely wear out a vehicle in about 3.5-4 years. So basically for a rideshare driver they are going to lose paying more money in their first 5 years over an ICE or Hybrid.
Plus other issues EV's have, like so much downtime charging, only getting cheaper charging at home and any repairs or battery replacement has to go back to factory. One bad dent and the insurance companies total them. Why drivers are getting less pay because of higher commercial insurance premiums Uber and Lyft pay upon a drivers behalf.
We have been lied to folks, EV's are a recipe for failure and the sooner they are removed from the marketplace the better for us all.
