Driving home after a good night of surge chasing with destination set for Alexandria. Got a ping for DCA... WTH??!?!!... Flights don’t come in at 3 am.

Called to confirm and pax is actually waiting at gate 7... Family with 2 young boys. They have a horrible ordeal to tell me... So their plane was SUPPOSED to land at DCA at 9:30 pm... But they had to circle endlessly due to our thunderstorms... Then plane was low on fuel and landed at BWI to refuel... Many pax deplaned there but luggage was going to DCA. Family decided to wait it out. Plane sat on runway at BWI for about 3 hours.. Finally taking off and landing at DCA 3 am.

What a horrible traveling ordeal!! The boys seemed awake and kinda excited about the adventure... Parents not so much.

My question is, didn't DCA cops try to stop you from entering the airport at that time?

No.. don't think I saw any.. there were other pax there waiting for rides.

You know how those airlines lie and underestimate the time.. " Folks, we'll be on our way in 30 minutes.. whoops another delay another 30... And so on".
Plus I think that late at night there aren't many staff at the airport, it's a skeleton crew so takes longer.
Ya they realized that too late. LOL... No they didn't tip and they were only going to hotel in Olde Towne. I was just glad it was in direction I wanted to go.. toward South Alexandria.. my home.

She did complain about smell of vomit. I explained I did the best I could cleaning it up... Later I realized that the seatbelt is the problem.. still smells.

She didn't ding me for car smell..so far.. so that's good.

When you aren’t driving in the evening, just freaking coat the seatbelt with baking soda overnight and then in the morning, clean it all off and you should be in the clear.

I had so many times picked up from DCA at 3am. then pick up pax from suburb to DCA. DCA 5 hours delay is normal.

Does the new Reagan Airport Pig Pen still close at 1? I thought that was off property. Do the airport cops still patrol it?

That term got me in some hot water for a bit. I still use it because of how ridiculous it is there. The sad thing is that when I started, the most people at that lot was 70. Same for the Reagan. Then the August slowdown came and it went from 70 to 150 at Dulles and 70 to 90 at Reagan. I was heated at the time because I could never find the DCA lot. I had to venture out in the city.

Yup, it's off the main property but the lot is owned by the MWAA. The cops still patrol it and still blast their siren to get people.out. The interesting part of this lot is that it's bisected by a crosswalk that connects Eads St to Jefferson Davis Highway. People will camp out on the parking by the lot, the bike lane around it and go stand in the lot or the crosswalk to be in cue.
