Real tips.....
Just dropped off a pax from hobby to memorial hospital. Asked me if I can step on it, a good tip, his grandmother was on deathbed. End of ride he asked me for a card, said he'd pass it to his family as they'll all be arriving in town.
That was his 'tip'. A hole. Instant 1 star rating.
I totally want to pull over and let these "drive fasters" out on the freeway. The Grandma on deathbed story I would of understood, but not some others like..
This guy: (probably the same one you had, he had curly hair)
Picked him up from the airport on Friday night - around 1am (possible flight delay), since he only had a backpack)) At this point I notice we are going to Hillcroft and 59. He asked me how long would it take? 10 minutes? I chuckled and told him, that is impossible, its going to be more like 35 minutes. I thought he was joking, but then he said, well, you need to hit the gas harder. I told him "okay" ("hitting the gas") I will go 10 above on the freeway, but thats it. No way I am doing 120mph down the freeway to get him down there in 15 minutes.
Anyways, I went 10mph over, because guess what is at Hillcroft and 59? A bus terminal (that Chevron). Possible flight delay, a bus terminal, this guy may have to actually get there. He did not seem like he was in the mood to talk.
Anyways, I hear him kind of mumbling in the back, but I was giving him the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps he really had to be there.
OH NO! , as we were nearing downtown, he exclaimed! Grandma's are driving faster than you! I turned around and said, what? He put his head down and mumbled some more. I slowed down to 60 for the rest of the way..; cruise control.
Then a few minutes later, he asked how long have I been driving for Uber? I ignored him twice. Then I responded, about two years. He asked if I liked it. I said. Most of the time. ( I figured he thought he could email Uber and take my job away) So I decided to let the cruise control go and go down to 55. At this point, this guy is a threat. He was clearly agitated but did not say a word for the rest of the trip.
This trip, as we got closer, I noticed, it was not the bus station, but Michael's, the strip club. Okay, a stripper must of texted him and said she will wait for him until x time.
Well, this guy got a 1 star and I went inside to collect my reward. $10 for bringing him. That $10 was never more worth it. Im glad I didnt pull over and kick him out. I would of missed the $10.
P.S. Even though I was driving like a Grandma, I got him there in 33 minutes (2 min faster) than what the original ETA was.
