Just paid over $100 for criminal record check. Paid for two years in a row. Never had a criminal reord even a speeding ticket as a matter. I was deactivate last year for two weeks and the same this year. Is this how uber treats drivers? In the mean I am happy driving with lyft.

I don't remember having had to pay for that when I applied. If you've never had a criminal record then why is this a problem? Perhaps some backstory.
I'm not understanding the root of your question for the forum, or is it more of a comment on how crappy Uber is? Are you located in Vancouver, just asking as you posted this in the Vancouver subforum.

How is driving for Lyft? Were there issues applying there?

I don't understand your post either. Was it a question or a comment?

I would guess your old criminal record documents were expired and they haven't approved your new documents yet. That has happened to me when it was time to update my docs. It took a long time for some reason like several weeks. The deactivation has nothing to do with your record unless there's something you're hiding.

My uber app is now working. But why it took weeks of being deactivated. Yes my criminal record was expired and needs to be renewed but why was my uber app deactivated can't they ask police criminal records without deactivation. As I said I never had criminal records in my life ever.

Glad to hear its all working, are you on Lyft too, and in Vancouver?
If it was a glitch in the system then delays are understandable, I've travelled with people with common enough names where if some other person elsewhere causes crime it triggers name alerts.
But asking specifically:

why it took weeks of being deactivated
why was my uber app deactivated
can't they ask police criminal records without deactivation

I don't think there's point in asking a public forum as you'll only get the actual response from Uber themselves. We can only speculate.

I'm from Vancouver and I was deactivated mid-December from both Uber and Lyft too because both Checkr and Triton flagged my name. My previous record check is still valid till mid-January but since they keep sending me messages to update my background check I just did it a bit early this year. Boy, I was deactivated by Lyft on the same day and Uber a few days later. I have to fork out $60 to get a background check from the RCMP but it's a pain in the ass to deal with support. I find Uber's support a bit better but Lyft is just a pain in the ass.

I got so pissed-off with Uber/Lyft I signed on to deliver for DoorDash instead and within a day I was on the road delivering. Checkr passed my background check for DoorDash but not Lyft so go figure. It's unlikely I'm going back to Uber/Lyft. I'm just lovin' DoorDash...at least for now...
