He shows the judge how much money makes on this trip. Some judges are humans after all...
Hahaha, I wish it works that way.... I can show how much money the city made after me last year and I should get a break. It works different, before going in the court room a city rep is telling you this and that ( max could be 1000$) bla bla bla. Take min of 200$ and be a good ant for now on. In my case, no moving violation, just mechanical issue I got a break from the city rep so that was it ( the judge just confirmed that and I was a happy ant that day...almost like a black bee if I can put it that way).

Went to MDW last night to pick up a family friend. Took down my trade dress & emblem but I did have the airport placard in the rear window. As soon as I pulled to the curb to pick him up in the "civilian" pick up lane, I had 2 traffic aids zone in on me with a CPD LEO watching & listening to everything. The traffic aid asked, "Are you Uber"? I responded with, "Not for hire - not online - no trade dress - no emblem, I'm a private citizen". She was totally confused but the CPD LEO walked away (thank goodness). After the CPD LEO walked away, her demeanor changed. The traffic aid informed me that there are "chasers" at the MDW exit and not be surprised if I get stopped exiting MDW - which didn't happen. Chiraq has become 1970 Soviet Union.
You got lucky, those mfs would write you a ticket and send you to 400 w superior. I hate to have all this emblems on my car all the time so to make it easier I laminated all of them ( see pic). It takes me 10 sec to display and that much to remove. I hate to have it all the time displayed in my car. uber and lyft don't pay me to display all the time their emblems on top I'm hunted by cpd.

We are, collectively speaking, our own worst enemies. Most of the ordinances aren't unreasonable. No picks or drops in a bus lane or bike lane? I understand, and agree. The cops are there to enforce these, as much as there to stop or prevent crime. If all rideshare drivers drove with consideration and obeyed these laws, we all wouldn't have bullseyes on our backs. The cabs, they get away with a lot, but they always have. It isn't that they are any worse than they were before rideshare came along. For whatever reason, they have the blind eye of the police most of the time. What can we do? Staying within the law is your best defense. Drive politely, and dont be the jerk causing jamups at the airport because you don't want to let someone else out or in. Don't let a momentary lapse of judgement ruin your day or week.
You are so right, uber drivers are not trained to look for cops when they stop the car..... they just wait for pax and look at their phone instead being alert. Cabs are getting their share from cops too, they do bad things and their car is a cop magnet actually. This city needs money desperately so be alert when you are in downtown. Don't be a customer at 400 w superior, it is bad..... very bad.
