Taxi drivers even today get paid more per km than we do. Step backward to a fair pay per km, yes please.
This is not how you will get better pay per km. That only happens if rates increase.
I thought you would know that. Clearly i was mistaken.

Taxi drivers never pushed for benefits like superannuation and hourly rate employees like benefits.

Fools.. This not something to be congratulated for. It is a great step backwards
Completely agree with you, I don’t want to be an employee in Nz, this is the worse possible outcome, means lower pay for us,

if I wanted to be an employee I could go drive buses for $23ph or trucks for $27ph, or do anything else, I do Uber because I like the freedom, yes there are many hours that are paid below min wage after tax and expenses, but you soon learn to avoid those hours and work the best profitable hours.

they should have fought for better contractor rights, and protection, like give us destination info, price of trip before we accept, stop Uber sending us trips that unprofitable. Like driving 15mins to a minimum fare trip, give us more control,

Are your taxi drivers like ours in Nz? They charge $3.50 per km, compared to Uber at $1.55 per km. But they sit around for hours doing nothing just waiting . So their high per Km rate covers their downtime doing nothing,

They charge $40 to get to the airport, then sit at the airport 3/4hours waiting for a return trip makin nothing, I make $15-35(surge) to the airport and get a return trip almost instantly,

I would much rather the lower per km rate. And be busy all day, than do very little trips. And overall I make more.

Lets make it simple.

All gig job workers to be paid for super and holiday pay in proportionate with how many hours they work without losing freedom of when to work.

The rate of charge must rise in proportionate with inflation rate like Taxi rate and Gig job supplier like Uber, DiDi,Ola and others must charge GST to riders.

They already do charge gst to riders

Thats madness, why you are driving around feeling good about yourself you are burning petrol and putting km on your car.

The taxis are getting less jobs simply because uber is undercutting them. There are still the same number of jobs to go round. If Uber raises their rates you may loose a few jobs to the taxis but the majority will remain and you will be paid more. The argument that drivers make more when their wages are slashed is only put forward by Uber management, us drivers know it's crap as we saw our wages go down and our costs go up when our rates were slashed.

You may have been brainwashed or you may be trying to brainwash others but the logic simply is not there. Uber rates need to increase and the number of drivers needs to be restricted

Terrible outcome

the last thing I want is to be an employee of Uber
Yes nice evidence to support your argument. Wages are going to get worse and worse, there has been an increase in minimum wage to account for inflation, we have got nothing but a temporary couple of cents on our fuel. Come the start of next year it will not be worth driving anymore.

Taxi fares have just gone up 11 to 12% we are going backwards fast.

So the government use to review the hourly pay of the taxi drivers every year and then set the fare and the number of cars on the road to ensure drivers would roughly receive minimum pay. Naturally with Uber they can't do that anymore so they need Uber to set the fare so we can get minimum pay.

Also Uber need to stop playing it's games where some nights you get all the good trips and some nights you get all the garbage.

I am not sure if anyone is suggesting Super.

That is cheap cab and discount taxis(Auckland based) mentality right there, hence they did well over time transporting drunk cheap kiwis(runners) when they run out of money after a night out and heavy shopping trolleys.
Problem with NZ taxis are that each of them charge their own rates,Auck Co-Op and corporate cabs get chosen by decent pax paying extra for the service and even have dedicated ranks all over and often runs out at busy times.

It’s the standards drivers need to set, not peenutt provider Uber that puppet you around because each and every one of you 🐜 finds your own little freedom that allows you to slave at your chosen flexible time and place.

Serve on……..

Absolutely correct, the Uber management doesn’t pay car costs so they make money while driver pays costs. Lower fares means less money to cover costs.
