Mannnn...that's crazy surge. Are we sure there are too many drivers? Laguna is full of cabs, like most coastal communities. Why wait for uber? Obviously one needs a ride badly if they are willing to pay that much. But congrats if you got that surge. [email protected]@k uber.

Those types of surges are what I call a "mirage"

It may be there but it's not really there. When it's that high, VERY few passengers will accept those terms. 90 % will wait for it to drop.

It goes up that high because the number of pings increased dramatically in ratio to the amount of drivers in a short amount of time. But it stays that high and once drivers arrive and log on , passengers will wait and it'll drop off.

Just because you see a high surge does not mean that anyone is getting any rides. A high surge is one thing, a passenger on a high surge is something else.

Yup!

Before the 5.0 (it was 2.5) I had check there were a shit ton of X drivers there. More so then normal, when the 5.0 came up at least half were gone, laguna and CDM were surging high.

This wasn't a matter of waiting it out as pax. It was about being at the right place at the right time for drivers.

I saw it and in the NWPT/CM area with a small surge. I was watching the rider app and boy, ton of cars were heading down there. It did get back to 3.6x and saw some cars disappear. I probably should have chased that surge but I have done that before on big surges and riders either waited it out or those that took the ride, didn't get me. Sunday wasn't too bad for me and probably got $100 and quit before 1AM.

I'm sitting in the middle of a 5x right this second in San Clemente. At least I had time to Clean the windshield and post this. 09:34 tues

Soooooo what happened

Watched it drop slowly till 1x, no ride, at that point I shut the app off and am now trying to learn how to surf
