Concerts at Rexall

Any experiences picking people up at Rexall post-concert/game? Any thought much about whether it is worth it? Yes there are rides to be given, but is it worth the hassle? Last concert I did I accepted the ping and sent text to person telling them to meet me on 118 Ave near south doors of Rexall (easier to pull over here). I think the guy was still in the arena when he sent the request because it must have taken him 10-20 minutes to get out to the car, and then I drove him down to the south side and there were no fares on the way back. I guess it is hit or miss with these things. Question for others is, do you have a location you usually pick people up at Rexall and what's your max waiting time? In hindsight I think if the person is not outside yet, then it's better to cancel and get someone who is. But that's just me talking out loud.

Boy Ive thought about this for a while. I went to Ed Sheeran and decided to turn my app on just to see what the hits would be like and my phone went nuts so there are obviously rides to be had. To be honest what I would do is wait by Fireside Grill, call the passenger to see where they are at and if they are still in the arena cancel the trip. I certainly wouldnt of waited 20 minutes, you are allowed to cancel the trip and charge them for it which is what I would have done in your instance. But to be honest how much hassle do you want to go through for one ride.
I agree with you. There's no point waiting too long (as I did). Lesson learned. I think you're right. Accept the ride, find out where the person is, if it's too far then cancel and try for the next one. The thing is I bet a lot of people request the ride as soon as they are leaving their seats, and it's got to take 20 minutes just to get out of there.
I have a 5 minute rule in the residential neighborhoods and the same would apply at Rexall unless im given an indication they are on their way and close.

I`ve had good success at Rexall by calling pax immed to confirm they are outside. I give them the same 5 then cancel but would consider earlier cancel if it`s obvious from phone call that they are inside for a while and lots leaving. Give good directions and have them come to you.
During a beer fest thing at Expo I had one really drunk guy that kept insisting he was at Rexall. I ended up getting 2 cancel fees out of him for not showing up at requested address plus another fare from someone else at Rexall (concert was ending too).
That weekend was a great weekend to work. When I cancel on a driver for waiting too long I don't usually accept the second ping that inevitably comes in. I figure the rider will be pissed off for the $5 charge and take it out on me. It's interesting to hear that you accept it. I'm curious to know if you ever get any grief over it?
Sorry didn't get back to you sooner. I rarely would accept a ping if I thought it was the same driver I just cancelled and collected on but I did it at the airport this week and worked out well. We texted/chatted as he wanted me to wait 15+ mins for his premature request as plane landing. I said I'd wait if he'd let me start fare (something I rarely do and with the lower waiting rates it's not really worth the risk should he never show up) and gave him the choice. He said he'd opt to cancel and request another when he actually got his luggage. I collected $5 then he pings me again. He was just in from New Zealand and works for a mid to large size construction company here in town. I ended getting his contact info for possible job leads. I doubt he noticed or cared the extra $5 charge.

That's the way to do it.
