I'm a local in the Coachella Valley. I cleared $150 in 4 hours during the day, went home and rested up, and then went to Palm Springs and took all those shuttle trips for 2 hours making another $100-$150. On Saturday night, one guy came home from Coachella and decided to go to the Date Farmers after-party in Downtown Coachella. I drove him there and it wasn't 20 seconds after the guy got out of my car after he gave me a $20 tip that I got pinged for down the street at another after-Party going back to Palm Springs, and then finished off the last of the shuttle rides. That was almost $200 for 3 hours of work on top of the $150 I made during the day. I started around 1:00 p.m. each day and went till about 5:00 p.m. and stayed busy with $10-15 trips mostly and a few $30 trips.
On Friday, there were too many out of towners here talking about making crazy money. I also saw one guy whine at the support module about how he wasn't going to drive someone for $30 and wanted $75.
As I said in my post on Friday night, if you came in from out of town, lick your wounds and go home. Especially if you came in from the Los Angeles and San Diego markets. Don't come down here next weekend unless your expectations are realistic. The days of easy money, 2k to 3k a weekend are over. Oh, and stay out of those Lyft and Uber lots on the property if you notice traffic. Go to Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, or Palm Desert at 12:00am and catch the shuttles where you dropped off people during the day.
I have a hard time believing that given Lyft had rides everywhere and Uber did too. My friend who drove Uber said people were complaining about the prices and the shenanigans the out of towners we're doing like driving really slow, forgetting where the Uber lot was circling around the site on Friday, doing the fake puke cleanup fees with obviously fake photos, and they were using Lyft instead.
