this is the perfect example of the best government money can buy
the cab company's are very powerful here for example Frias trans is richer then Steve Wynn with over 1000 cabs and the county commission is paid from them and a few other companies like yellow checker star and Bell trans anyways please check out the posts in los Angeles Uber and Lyft will flood the streets and then nobody making money they apparently drop rates sometimes .90 cent a mile so all the drivers there are complaining

If Uber and Lyft can be so fortunate as to put several of the established Las Vegas cab companies out of business, a state holiday should be created in their honor. People actually like Steve Wynn. No one likes the local taxi industry. They are universally disliked by tourists, locals, resorts and the convention industry. Frias has never been wealthier than Wynn and now that the company is being run by an heir, it is probably worth less than the average transportation business now

Five companies are under the Frais taxicab management.
ANVL 181 cabs
ACE 208 cabs
VEGAS WESTERN 181 cabs
UNION CAB 198 cabs
VIRGIN VALLEY 92 cabs
Total cabs 866 at this time.
On the first of November 2015 10 more cabs per taxicab company will be deployed to the 16 taxicab companies in Las Vegas.

With 19,233,322 trips by the end of this August in Las Vegas trips are only up 1.21 percent from last year. That is only 230,828 additional trips. The slowest time of the year is coming. December after the the cowboys is the most challenging time of the year.

Now with Uber starting up and SB 376 rules coming into affect on January 1 , 2016 the marketplace will be a challenge for new drivers and the most experienced taxicab drivers. SB 376 allows Taxicab companies to lease a taxicab to taxicab drivers in Las Vegas which has not be allowed as taxicab drivers currently work as employees this will start on January 1, 2016.

The question is how are taxicab companies in Las Vegas going fill over 3000 taxicabs every single day when Uber has been approved for unlimited amount of vehicles by paying the half a million dollar fee to the state of Nevada. Turnover of taxicab drivers is extremely high in Las Vegas. With the Nevada Taxicab Authority granting 2000 new taxicab drivers permits in 2014.

It will be interesting to see how the Nevada Taxicab Authority pays for it budget next year as it collects a fee of twenty cents per trip to fund it's operation. The Nevada Taxicab Authority is a self funding authority. I guess the long hauling tickets of less than three a day will have to increase to make up the short fall. As Uber in the thirty largest marketplace they operate in America have done very well against taxicab companies this years.

Jolly interesting times in the next couple of months for the Las Vegas Taxicab Gods.

Uber like running water, every where for everyone. Now even in Nevada !!

Theae numbers were from 2005 now they have over 1000 cabs and ms Frias is richer then steve wynn andvthe owner of bell trans was a member of the county commission and now a driver for uber and lyft must get a business license and with so many cars on the streets there wont be enough rides for everybody right now you can go to any hotel or mall like premium outlets and there is a huge cab line remember they're not going away and add 10k drivers from Uber and another 2500 from lyft = No Money To be made for the drivers
Uber and Lyft will make money but not the drivers

Frias started a Uber like app system for lokal areas anyways it's hard to make a living with lokals this is not L.A. vegas has less then 2 million residents and the reason cab drivers don't like to pick up lokals us because you can go to a Albertsons pick upvsomeone going home thats only a few blocks away and if you wait there for the next ride it could take 2 hours I've worked in transportation here in laa vegas for the last 10 years taxi thrm limo and shuttle bus i wasblooking forward and i signed up with Uber but really with a business license and over 12500 uber and lyft vehicles and all the cabs andvlimos it's not a good deal for drivers.

Just a clarification on the math regarding TNC drivers. The "10k drivers from Uber and another 2500 from Lyft" are the cumulative number of drivers registered with the companies over the first 24 months statewide. That includes turnover. An article last evening stated each TNC had about 1k signed up.

The bottom line is that there will be way too many vehicles on the road and withvuber and lyft you must get a state business license that's $200 and then the crappy clark county will probably want one also and as a cab or limo driver you don't pay state tax with this we would be paying state tax by the time you feed all the stretched hands there will not be nothing left
This summer i bought one ice cream truck and after the rigurus licensing process the county told me i can't go to the parks and i cant work after 7 pm or helf an hour befor sunset so how should i make money and now this mob state wants us to ge business license pay federal and state tax how we subpose to make a living with that
I'm from NYC and I've lived in several states but by far this is the worst place
