I recently lost my job and decided during the time of finding a new one I would drive Uber. I had signed up an account to try it earlier in the year while I was still working full time. When I decided to go back this week, I was informed that I had to do a re-screeening of my background and the city of Toronto would need to review this before I could pick up riders in the city. Can anyone tell me how long this takes? I'm anxious to get back to doing city pick ups. I live in the city and driving out to the burbs makes no sense when most of the fares would bring me into Toronto city limits anyway. please help!

I have the same problem I submitted all my docs on Oct 20th, still waiting for the approval from City of Toronto. Everyday, I am dropping riders in downtown but not able to pick riders from there.
Hi. I went to the Uber office on Adelaide and they put me on the priority list. I suggest you do the same. Also I later found out if you have any outstanding traffic or parking tickets l, the city will not approve you. So you should call the city to find out. But make sure you get out on the priority list for review. You should be approved between 3-5 days

I really suggest to go to the office. They are very helpful. I was told that the process has gotten quicker. I paid my one outstanding ticket, took my ticket and payment receipt to the office, they sent a picture of it all in and I was approved the next day.
Do you know if someone has 3 demerit points would they be approved by the city? What's the requirement of the city in regards to demerit points

Hi Sam. I know your driving record is a part of the background check required by the city. A company called Chekr does this for UBER. If you get in touch with Chekr, they will send you the document the city sees. I don't know the city requirements as it relates to your background and driving record. I had one speeding ticket on there from 2014 and I was approved. I don't know about demerit points.

What was the ticket for ?
It's for my friend, he didn't change lane as there was a police car on the highway shoulder and he should have moved over to the next lane... it's one of those setups where the cruiser is just standing in shoulder with lights flashing and if someone didn't change lanes they will pull them over and give tkt.. he got 3 demerit points and $500 fine

I went to Uber Office, located in Mississauga yesterday, Expert, registered my case and to put it under RUSH, results are expected within one week, thats what she said. Furthermore, I have clean driving record and no ticket pending until Oct 20th,2016. Lets see.

Hi there, Happy New year to everyone. I got my approval on Dec 16th for Toronto, it took almost two months to get it done, I visited thrice to Uber Office in Mississauga. Anyways, thanks for the support and the feedback.
