Does anybody know what the rules are for kids under 8 and Pool rides (assuming the adult has a legal car seat for the kid)?

If you have an Uber X, it assumes 4 available seats. But car seats/boosters can take up 2 seats in the back. I was looking just now to see if there are any rules about this but couldn't find anything.

I've never seen a car seat that takes up two passenger seats. How would you secure such a seat?

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. Some car seats can be big. They eat up one seat and, let's say, infringe on the middle seat a little. I can see a situation, potentially, where the 2 more people get in and the 3 in the back are really squeezed.

Ultimately, my point is this: I don't think kids who need car seats should be allowed in Pool. And as I think about it, Pool is all about efficiency. Nobody should have to wait for a PAX to take 5 minutes to install it properly.

Yet another reason not to drive pool in my book. No?

True -- though, admittedly, these situations won't happen often because 99% of PAX don't bring the appropriate car seat for their kids. I just think it's another example of Uber aproaching things improperly. Pool should not allow kids under 8, and there should be an option in the app that queries the PAX about this when they request Pool.

Get this...one time, I had a female & male PAX (with a newborn...and no car seat) request a pool at a Walmart. I drove around the parking lot, stalling, and then said "nope" and drove away (with cancel fee of course). I guess PAX think that people 2 and under don't count as a seat

Not when they think little Johnny can just sit on their lap.

Just watched a lyft driver pick up a mother and her 2-3 year old child with no seat. I asked her if she knew it was illegal and she didn't care
I canceled out an XL trip today, three little kids under 4 years old. No cancellation fee. Trip doesn't even show up in app. Do we or do we not get paid for these? I'm sure it's not the first time these people have been canceled out for the same reasons.

I now force them to cancel these kinds of rides and state that I can cancel but then I have to report the incident to uber. It works 4 times out of 5.

You HAVE to wait the full 5 minutes. Even when you know in 10 seconds you're not doing the ride.....Uber AND Lyft make you wait the full time. If you don't, exactly what you describe happens. It won't even show on your dashboard. Like it never happened.

True story.....what was going to be my last ride Friday night (Saturday morning, actually) turned out to be FOUR 14yo little girls. It was 2:15am. Four 14yo girls. 2:15am. Mom comes out and demands I take them, as she ordered an Uber, and I had to do the ride. I absolutely ADORE being told I have to do something from someone with no power to demand it....lol. This was in a rather swanky DTS town...so I'm sure she thought it was true, being the entitled **** she was. Long story short, told her I'd be reporting her to both Uber AND CPP (Child Protection and Permanency, formerly DYFS) and see what they said about it....lol...she just huffed off.

You don't have to wait, you just have to report it as a safety issue and they'll give you the cancellation fee, same with more than 4 riders (I'm an X). Happened to me last week, although waiting the 5 mins will take up less of your time...

You do. Yes, they'll bonus you, as the OP said. But to avoid all that bullshit, and talking to Uber, you absolutely do have to wait it out.

Again, yes....you will get your cancel fee (most times)....but you have to contact them to do it, and it will NOT show on your driver dashboard......just like OP said.

So again.....you wait.....cancel....it shows on trip record, and you get paid.
