You wouldn't? Uber doesn't care what route you take. The GPS directions have nothing to do with how you are paid or the pax charged. You are under no obligation to navigate via the Uber app, or any GPS at all. The uber app does two things during a ride: It times the trip and charges a fee for time based on when you start and end the trip, and it GPS's your path and charges the pax per mile. Which way you go is up to you or the pax, and the Uber app knows which way you went, what the distance was, and how long it took.
