I just did a run to Greenfield and the 60. Been sitting at Circle K for 10 minutes. Will I ever get a ping here, or should I leave? Don't know the demand out here in the boonies.
There is a Dos Gringos right there. South of the 60 is better than North in pretty much all areas of Mesa. Fridays are always way slower than Saturday nights. Stay put and let it play out. Look at the passenger app and check your competition.

Sitting at the Circle K for 20 minutes. Only action is every trashy dude in the area buying their smokes.
You should probably sit in front of Dos or move closer to a big apartment complex. This is a general rule. Sit closer to where the pings come from. Next to bars, casinos and party apartments. The closer car usually gets pinged first. Nobody goes out until after 9 anyways. Again there is no money in the summer with uber. Chandler and Gilbert can be busy with longer rides but it's hard this time of year.

I ended up taking someone to Mesa an hour later. From there I took a ride south to Gilbert. In Gilbert I took someone to AJ. Once in AJ, I kept getting pings for people at 4.4, 4.5 ETC. Finally I took the fourth one for fear of being knocked off. It was an obnoxious drunk couple going 2 miles. They were late 50s and teased me about not getting tipped. 1 star for them. I dead headed to Old Town and got stuck in n Phx. I picked up 3 min fares at surge from Charlie's at last call. I guess Mesa is good for the distances, but how do you get a surge?

You only get knocked off for a few minutes! It's better than getting drunk 4.5's!

I dread AJ, Queen Creek, or anything further. Chandler/Gilbert is ok. It's almost always more than 3 miles, can easily be 10+, and it is more affluent. Mesa is so big you get a grab bag - anything from min fare food city runs, to 50 mile visiting-grandma-in-glendale-but-license-still-suspended runs, to take me home from Denim and Diamonds. Really never can tell what you are going to get in Mesa.
