I have a 2015 Santa Fe with 56k km. I am doing about 1000 km (52k per Year) a week for Uber, the Santa Fe is on a 5 year finance and I have 41 months remaining. (I got it before I started Uber).
I would prefer to get a Japanese SUV as I am not happy with Hyundai service. Could I get some feedback on what options I have and other drivers' experience with mileage, maintenance and finance cost, please?

Do you have 7 seat or just the 5 seat Sante Fe? If it is 5 seat, you have probably noticed, but there is no point in driving a 5 seat SUV to do uber with due to mileage/costs and you just have same earnings that you could get with a Prius. Santa Fe XL (7-seat) is among one of the vehicles I would consider as a replacement for my current ride, German Select vehicle and a waste to uber with. If I am going to continue ubering I might as well get a prius and do Uber X instead of driving a Select vehicle. My ride is good until end of next year, so a replacement is something I have been actively thinking about.

Note that rumours are 7seat SUVs are also going to have to take poo rides sometime after July 15th. Which makes sense, if Uber is short drivers, they will push poo to as many drivers as they can. So if that is the case you might not want any SUV to uber with, unless that is the vehicle you would want to drive even without Ubering.

As a side note, strangely enough and despite my dislike of poo, this morning I got a surged Poo that was close so I took it. Ended up getting 2 more matched surged poo rides all in one trip. Very next trip was another close surged poo, so I took it and got another matched with another surged poo. So this morning rides boosted me to my 2nd highest ever hourly/distance earnings. But bottom line is I didn't need a Select vehicle to be a poo bus driver, could have had the same earnings in a Uber X vehicle with lower costs.

As an ex owner of 2 Hyundai's including a 2012 Santa Fe I have to say....There's a reason why they are at the price point they are at...

Pretty much the day after the warrenty was over it was almost like someone at Hyundai hit a switch and the car started to fall apart....lol

They are great cars if you're using them for pleasure, grocery etc. But from my experience they are not great commuters. I think driving Uber with a Hyundai will kill the car well before it's expected lifetime

Go and talk with the dealership. They might ask you to pay a few thousand to end the deal. It could be worth it. And i would listen to what Superduber said.

Even getting an XL vehicle wouldn't guarantee you XL rides, except maybe on the weekend. Even then it won't be more than 10-20% of your rides, and they won't even be long rides.

Find a cheap 2010 vehicle and pay cash. Don't spend more than $3k.
