Today, I gave a lady a ride who leased an Uber Car. She said she was paying $247 per week plus insurance and gas. Said that more than 4 days a week of work could cover those cost, but paying her other bills turned out to be a losing battle. She called Uber Lease to come get the car.....yes they came by way of REPO man. Now she has a Repossession on her credit rating!!!

That is truly sad, Blushark. That obligation seems overwhelming in the current earnings climate.

It is kinda funny that another thread was just posted where the OP has been emailing Uber Xchange about returning hiss lease back but they won't reply ...

How else would you expect Uber to handle it? You think Travis was going to come to her door and ask for the keys? Uber outsources everything, I'm surprised they didn't ask another Uber driver to do it for them, cheap bastards.

I'm behind on payments and keep getting a 'return the car we'll pay you $100', the Xchange leases do not go on your credit from what I understand, also, they haven't returned my emails asking what's outstanding balance to pay off (cough-cough) AND they aren't chasing anyone down for returned car-back payments. I'm assuming there are WAY too many AWOL xchange leased cars so they are lagging on repos. (That lady prolly did an enterprise lease maybe???)

Actually was one of the first to sign up for Uber Lease (not an Enterprise Car), said quite a few months ago.....she tried several times for them to come pick up the car...then one day it was REPO'ed....said the REPO is listed on her credit rating.

Everything Uber has been out of wack lately!
Their attempt to make it to that category of "Too big to Fail" has simply put them in the category of "Too big Not to fail".
The current leadership seems to ultimately just wanna walk away as individual billionaires... Everything else they do is just a game of trying to buy time on borrowed money.

If she's a former Uber driver, did she tip you?

Was it an xchange lease or something else?

The lease outlines the return process. If they don't keep their end they're in breach of contract and you should absolutely pursue damages to collect monetary losses and forcing them to remove the credit report entry.

Reminds me of the story where someone with an xchange lease stopped paying the lease and had the repo man come take it instead of returning it.

The xchange lease does not report on your credit reports. You can bet a repo will though.

She didn't have an Xchange lease if she was paying that much. That is way over the max credit they will give you, which is like 20K. Their max payment tops out at 180/week. Maybe it was a Santander lease, those were really, really, really bad.
Anything financed through Santander is really bad, I had a car loan that they inherited from a bank they bought out. It was setup on auto pay so it debited my account automatically. Somehow they screwed up and every payment was $0.01 short. They would send me nasty letters about being late by a penny when it was their fault. Of course I ignored them, but got a good laugh every time.
