I saw the screenshot 1400.00. No doubt you can make great money though it depends on location. Albany NY is just to spread out you, could cover 10 miles for a 1 mile trip. I have done well on certain days of the week though those are the only days that there is enough profit $30-40 per hour. People staying on to run 10 miles for $4.00 must just like the company and getting out of the house and that is fine though they are doing it for a hobby to get out of the house. I think Uber/Lyft need to educate passengers that they are taking roughly 35% of the call. I tell this to customers and they are amazed and then generally leave a few dollars for a tip. I am not lying to them Just letting them know the facts, so many think we get all of the fare. Passengers blame us for the surge and think we are making that money. It is getting worse though change will come.
The most frustrating thing is listening to good clean customers complain how dirty the car they are getting is, the drivers attitude was poor, the drive was scary speeding, cutting off cars, etc. Then I hear the wrong driver or vehicle showed up. All fine until a accident and they are not covered.

Someone explain if you run for a basic fare in this area will average 7 miles for $4.00. How long and how many rides you have to do to put a set of 4 tires on your car? And thats not paying for fuel, insurance, car maintenance, etc.
Then I love the threat from Uber/Lyft that I declined calls? I will never make it to pro even driving a newer car customers love I cant justify going out of town that will take me a hour before I get back to the city if I am lucky and dont get sent farther into the country when I can stay right in the city with $5.00 to $8.00 surge pricing all night. Yes when you are sending me to another city I am sorry I just assume write you a check and mail it in to you

Finally the consecutive trip bonus is 50/50 sometimes I get it though if I step out of the car without my phone to grab some luggage or help a elderly person I miss the call and there goes my $4.50. I missed 3 Sunday and received 4? Well 1 plus for me. I guess I will strap the phone to my hand???

Imagine Craigslist for ride sharing? Evert hing goes to the driver. People save money and drivers make more its a win win. I am working on it. Anyone interested let me know.

I had work three weeks per year to cover commuting costs ($12+/day for a transbay bus or BART) to get to my day job, and I was making $82k/year salary. Driving to work would have been more costly ($6 toll, $8 parking, gas). The alternative was to give up rent control and pay $2000/month higher rent to be closer to the office. I also wore out a pair of dress shoes per year, which is nearly the cost of buying tires for a car once every two years. I haven't had to buy shoes since quitting that job three years ago.

The more money you make, the more you need to spend to get it and to keep it.

I was just deactivated by Uber & am contemplating taking them to small claims court. So if there's another way I can make money driving I'm all ears!!
I'm in Northern lower Michigan by the way.

LOL i used to live in albany last year, did 1 full
year of uber there, it was great because the old surge was still there and i would work late nights to early mornings and make a killing. One time there was a snow storm and i made 2700+ in 1 week, 1600 in 3 days, i was also making 1000-1500 consistently. But i moved to a more college centric market (very short rides) and i ended up opening a business. I still uber some saturdays because of the short rides and high bonuses but i cant imagine working in albany with this new surge or anywhere for that matter where ur not just going 3 or 5 minutes away for 4 dollars extra per ride......

Uber is fuqing drivers so hard, i did a long trip to an airport 1 hour away on a $12 bonus a few months ago and i was like yea!!! 150 at least!!! Because on the old surge it would be 200+ for that ride....77 dollars... i basically quit driving then because when i looked at the passenger's paid amount it was almost 300. Uber got all of that.

It’s not going to happen,

The issue is insurance. Your looking at $500 a month for decent coverage that makes you legal to drive passengers. So your looking at needing $1000+ a month to start making money, with $700 a month being break even, and not really turning a good profit until $1,500 a month.

At this point this knocks 80% of the drivers out and you’ll never reach critical mass to hit the point at which your service (the driver owned rideshare) can pick up passengers fast enough that they will bother using it.

So really any attempt at this while Uber/lyft still exist will end in total failure.

And then there’s the other problem,

Much like any attempt to make a profitable rideshare business. Unless you can operate at a loss it will end in failure because Uber will undercut you.

So really any thoughts of attempting this are a waste of your time/effort.
