Other driver was probably TLC driver. Passengers don't know the difference, other than the rate is much higher in New York. Still the same app for them. Once in NY your app will log you on, but you will not receive pings. Once you get back to NJ your app will sign you out and you have to log back in to accept NJ rides again.

You can not operate any FHV/Taxi service in NYC without the proper plates and commercial car insurance.
For a FHV you need to have TLC license plates, TLC issued base stickers, commercial car insurance and commercial registration.
No you can not operate in NYC doing any FHV dispatch work with NJ passenger licence plates, or NY passenger license plates.
THE END.

Lyft should be exactly the same. I have heard stories where people get a ping, but it has been a long time since those have occurred. As somebody else posted if you want to get your car impounded then try, TLC is a very different animal with very strict rules. Over the weekend I was in Baltimore, and even though Uber gave me a message stating I was not able to work in Baltimore, I turned on Lyft and to my surprise received a ping that I had to cancel as I did not have my car with me. I would not try to pickup in NY under any circumstances.

AND to be perfectly legal in NJ, you need OL plates.
Without limo registration and insurance, you are not legal in Jersey.
No matter WHAT Uber says.
They all learn the hard way. Uber is using the poor, desperate, and uneducated to push forward with their agenda of world domination, at the same time with no regard of rules and law.

Yea, no OL plates, I was thinking, that could be a problem lol

You can drop off in NY tho...technically....but yea...can't pick up..although I hear Lyft is working with NYC on that...and they are more "friendly" about it..

Had a guy last night that works for PayPal. Said when Uber started they met with Uber CEO and directors...and they were all a-holes to them...just no common courtesy...just demands..

I think Lyft knows it, well we all do, and theyre thinking is the old saying "you attract more flies with honey "

But idk, could be wrong....I'm gonna try Lyft anywayz
