Yours truly picked up a pax in Minneapolis this weekend who genuinely surprised that I'm "actually from Minnesota" because, she said, most of her Uber driver are immigrants (doesn't surprise me) including a significant number whom are undocumented (this surprised me!), and begged the question....

Can undocumented immigrants driver U/L?

Per the SSA website, non citizens can apply for a SS card. And this company helps them.

And refugees can get SSI.
Oh ok, because I know that knowing English is not (and has never been) a requirement to drive U/L, so...that's another one, that English speaking pax in my market are often surprised to have an English speaking driver, because apparently they get picked up by drivers who don't know it and experience communication break-downs/misunderstanding, etc., which is kinda mind boggling because...I can imagine for example moving to Mexico and trying to grind RS all in Spanish and I dont speak the langauge?, its just seems daunting if not risky.

With that said, I'm genuinely all for the Minneapolis legions of Somalis, Liberians, Oromos and S Sudanese, and St. Paul's Ethiopians and Ertiteans to get behind the wheel and on the road to hustle out RS, rather their sit on their tacos and do nothing...in fact, there was a night last week I had to cancel out on a Walmart pick up for group of college students who had one shopping cart each and no way that could all fit into my little car without committing some kinda of moving violation(s)...within mins of my cancellation one of these drivers rocked up and some how managed to load like 4 carts of groceries in his car which was even smaller than mine (I had to watch).

I had a driver in Las Vegas on Lyft who was here on vacation from Brazil, driving a Hertz rental on Lyft, no Nevada drivers license, no business license, state or county, no backgriound check, said what a great country, he just walked in, they gave him a job and a car, the extra income helped him extend his vacation here while visiting friends. Said his next stop was Germany to see friends, hoped he could do the same thing over there with whatever company was available.
Welp, Gryft is making America great again!

That may help your tips. I’d think some pax were be nervous and frustrated if driver didn’t speak English.
I mean, yes, I think so....for example, I took a pax to the airport this morning...she had some serious "motion sickness" (don't even ask me how she'll fly!) so had to negotiate level of AC + how many/how much windows were open + car speed, acceleration and braking...really, it was a detailed deliberation, but I working to work with her special needs, and pulled down a generous tip in the process. With little to no English fluency, however, that ride woulda been a disaster.

I'm guessing that both documented and undocumented immigrants in the US who dont know English are pretty content with what they make hustling RS even without tips.

My neighbor is an illegal alien and has done all of the major gig apps at one time or another without issue. It’s about $3000 but you can get a real SSN and birth certificate from a dealer. Included in this price is a compromised DMV employee that is going to make you a legit state ID and/or driver’s license without the correct diligence.

I was an assistant manager at a restaurant in the 90s in this same thing was available back then but it was only like $500. On my best workers Miguel was caught and deported like maybe five times in three years but he would always come back with another $500 and then he would tell us to call him Jose or maybe next time he’s Joachim.
Sounds like an opportunity for [undocumented] partners to earn more!
