well you pay per day and they have a 2 day minimum .. most of the cars start at $30 a day+ (I paid $40 a day for a POS Honda Fit that had 5% oil left when I returned it) and you have to pay the amount up front for the amount of days you reserve the car. they also hold a $200 security deposit that is released after you return the car in the event you damage the car.
We just keep digging ourselves in a whole.

You pay all that and then you get to keep a fraction. The take home gets smaller and smaller.

The car owner would be paying depreciation miles, not you. That's between 5 and 8 cents a mile, unless the car is already pretty old.

A serious Uber driver could do 1000 miles in a week, so at $300 its possible the owner is losing money.

wait what?! will Uber actually let me do that?
Yes.. I let my bf use my car to get the sign up bonus before he got his Prius. You just have to notify Uber/Lyft that you are using an already approved car & duplicate the doc uploads. They could care less where the car comes from, as long as it is insured and on their system. I swear they don't even care about that outside of the people regulating them. Uber would let you steal a car and drive it as long as you are insured.
