long story short, I need to replace the engine on my GTI and I'll be out of a car for 2 weeks.

Am I able to rent a car and keep driving until I get my car back?
Maybe one of the girls on here will let you drive on their account when they aren't driving.

You don't have to look exactly the same. Just similar. Do you know how small those pictures are? And nobody ever checks them anyway.

I'm sorry you are having to deal with this. When I worked at a car dealership we used to always send motors, oil pans, and other various damaged parts to various oil changing places. When I couldn't change the oil at home, I sent it to the dealer, that way there is written record of my oil changes. Now that I have a garage and what not I change the oil myself. Living in the city you probably don't have that option, just take it to the dealer. They usually send coupons to the house. I am not saying dealers are angels either, its just the better of the two options.
Yeah, those oil change guys are always disgruntled.

oh no, what happened? I've rented two cars through hyrecar (and am actually still using one of them) to keep driving. it sucks to have to pay 300+ a week to rent a car, but all of the cars through them are Uber approved cars and they provide insurance. If you go that route, make sure the owner of the car has an actual (physical) copy of their car registration in the car because Uber won't add the car to your profile without having that.
300??

You gave that to them upfront?

well you pay per day and they have a 2 day minimum .. most of the cars start at $30 a day+ (I paid $40 a day for a POS Honda Fit that had 5% oil left when I returned it) and you have to pay the amount up front for the amount of days you reserve the car. they also hold a $200 security deposit that is released after you return the car in the event you damage the car.
We just keep digging ourselves in a whole.

You pay all that and then you get to keep a fraction. The take home gets smaller and smaller.
