IN THE BEGINNING…
when we were first deported to rideshare-lot-Siberia (10-minutes to your pick up at your expense… oh, wait, they give you 34 cents for that “long pick up…" and the guy’s going to a hotel on Route 1-9?), I thought that it was nice that we had a real break truck at our beck and call. I went over and bought a $2 medium (bitter) coffee and struck up a conversation with the owner (he was freezing at this 12-hour-outside shift job … he was told that he couldn’t idle his truck).

He said that his prices prices went up, beyond his normal location work because the PA required a bigger cut of the take than he imagined when he first offered to put a truck there. But he wanted to try it. Looks like that indentured servatude cost him more than he could make (welcome to Rideshare). But the TLC Mosque location actually didn’t make sense. Too much activity and too much traffic at the isle ends. The location of the new food truck seems to make a bit more sense, but the Mosque activity remains at the old location, good to keep an eye on the activities since, as the winter weather closes in, visibility will decrease. No driver needs increased risk.

Incidentally, I have seen an increase in Lyft pings as well. Do they really pay less than Uber per mile. I can’t find driver their mileage disclosure. Truth be told, I am using Lyft more than ever because the Uber Queue has been longer, so not as familiar with their app details. In any case, I did read here that we made less with Lyft… but if there are shorter Queues then it sort of works to be close or the same? who knows.

Pay from Uber and Lyft is exactly the same per mile an minute, only difference is for example for XL Uber's cut is 28% regardless of you being a 20/25 % and Lyft passes the whole $5 cancellation fee to you taking no cut.. so on that sense, Lyft pay is slightly better. From rider point of view, Lyft tends to be a less aggressive on their upfront pricing, so paxes have a tendency to think it's cheaper but when the fare is by mileage/time calculation is the same.
