picked up 2 ladies to Gold Coast races on Saturday. When they got in they said what a beautifully car, not like the one we came down from Brisbane in yesterday, I asked what was wrong and this was their word for word reply.
Car was in a bad state, dirty, one door different colour to rest of car.
Openened back door to get in there was a stench of body odour and cigarette smoke.
Cloth seats stained with god only knows what.
Ash tray open and half full with cigarette butts.
I showed them how to send a complaint to uber and suggested they asked for their money back so they could have their clothes cleaned.
Maybe uber have reached the bottom of the barrel.

So you believe no probs with the taxi industry?
Thats silly thing to put forward. Any business has ongoing problems. You are trying without success to discredit me as a forum member who once drove a taxi. What I do know is that previously being on both sides gives an extra dimension of experiences, knowledge and road skills that not all members here have.

No.. I have yet to see you write anything positive about rideshare yet you glorify the taxi industry and write absolute rubbish about tax write offs. Anyone who had been in business long enough and sets up that business to take advantage of everything knows what utter crap it is when you write such things as tax deductions are nothing. When I respond stating how, you mention chocolates??? Wtf are you normal ??

Wrong again. 100% tax deduction you stated. Ask your accountant if you give complimentary anything its tax deductible 100%. But speaking of being positive you havent been here long enough to know what I contributed. So finish a thread then move onto the next. You dont back up your statements so your input becomes a gab fest. At least someone here is getting self gratification

We are talking about fuel, insurance, maintenance, repairs and a myriad other vehicle and running expenses which add up to many thousands of dollars and are 100% tax deductible if you do it the correct way for this business.

Read my original post and stop changing things simpleton.

What you have contributed is 6 months of moaning and whining about your poor cabbie mates before I joined this forum. You didn’t even know how the Uber payments worked ffs. And anything that is slightly complicated your response is to talk to your accountant. Some people actually have experience in running a business, which is essentially what this is.

Your original statement was tax deductions are very minimal which is absolute rubbish. Now you have changed it to complimentary products, wtf

I do answer a tread however it seems you are in-able of taking in everything that is written. I have backed up everything I have stated. Done. Go back to driving taxis simpleton and fo from this forum

You State My "hobby" regularly makes me an extra $1000-$1300 a week driving night, much more at peak periods of the year.

So are you turning over not making $1000-$1300 a week driving night, much more at peak periods of the year. There is a difference which means you are not making but turning over. Take off costs and myriads.

I disagree.
One bad experience does more damage to any enterprise than ten good ones boosts them.
All drivers will suffer if people start to believe isolated stories of bad experiences.
Same as believing all stories about bad taxis - look what has happened there.
Some is not all, but many want to believe the "all" part of "bad".
The duds in any business need to be rooted out ASAP, for respect to be maintained.

Yeah they do. And these clowns who call and ask where people are going need to stop. What goes round comes round, I've found after a few short trips you tend to get a very long trip.

Nothing is pissing people off more lately then this bs. I had 5 complaints about this over the weekend. My response was the same.. report them.

It is not our place to pick and choose, you accepted to do this job, don't whinge about short fares, its all part of it. I understand if the fare is 15-20km away, but these are not, these are in Brisbane suburbs not in out lying areas.

I don't understand their reasoning, as mentioned before.. I've made more per hour doing multiple short trips then one long trip over an hour. Not doubt part of the airport sitting brigade.

You can have your disagreement, my point is you don't need to pick on other to demonstrate you are good, besides the rating system should already reflect what is good or bad. I don't respect people who provide bad service, I don't respect people neither like this poster

And I still believe taxi lost to uber is because of technology change more than the service they provided, and besides Uber is cheaper

I think no. 1 is price and second service. Get a lot of complaints about Taxi's. The taxi has gone through a massive change in Brisbane over the last 15 or so years and not for the better, as someone else wrote previously, most people like to have a chat when getting a ride, this is lost on the newer type of taxi drivers.

Having lived and worked overseas in various countries, Australia is very different to most in regards to this, even when going to the shops, helping people out.. you notice a big difference. Had a few people over the weekend saying driver didn't talk, it makes a lot of people uncomfortable. I'm not saying everyone wants to and there are instances when people just want to be left alone, but the majority want to have a chat.

At least this is what I have found.

Late last year when I first started driving I was at the shops and saw this old lady panicking waiting outside with a shopping load of groceries. I asked her if she was ok, she replied that she had been waiting over an hour (this was in summer) out for the taxi the post office had called for her. She was about to go back inside and call again. I wasn't working at the time but gave her a lift back to her house. Before Uber was around, it was not uncommon to wait a minimum 30 min for a Taxi, on new years we used to walk from the City to the depot at RBH and get a Taxi coming on duty as you just couldn't get one without waiting 2-3 hours on NYE. A lot of people comment now they can't believe how quick we arrive.

People will tell you a lot different reasons but to the end it's about price or technology. Ok, I only speak for myself, the reason I call Uber over taxi is because I don't need to worry I can't find one and young generation use phone to call Uber, find it's easier than you need to talk to a call centre, and it's way cheaper than taxi lol

And I like to chat in general but not to chat about my personal life, some drivers will ask you personal questions which makes me uncomfortable but I don't give it a shit as I only need a ride and it's cheap and rate every driver a 5 stars maybe I'm not a picky person looking for 5 star hotel service in Uber X. But as a uber driver I'm driven to make my riders happy, that's only because I want to be a better me.
