Just occurred to me that its probably a good idea to take trips you don't want and let pax cancel instead of it lowering your acceptance rate. Or maybe call them to screen and let them know you cant make it.

Anyone try this? How long it take for pax to cancel?

You'll be deactivated very quickly.

You know you are dealing the crowd that technically deserves to be ban even from the city bus service. You think they will let you go without a complain if they loose money and time. You are increasing your chances to deactivate if there are more than one complain. My acceptance rating always stays between 20-30%. As long you are depending on rideshare income, don't do it.

Most pax will not cancel, they think they will be charged and they tell you to cancel. Then it's a Mexican standoff each waiting for the other to cancel
I had a rider text me on my way to a long pickup. She needed to make a train and was worried i would not get her in time. Then she texted, "I have to cancel, sorry." But she didn't, i got there, texted her several times, "if we leave right now, we will make it".

Waited 5, cancelled, and got a $14 fee.

Acceptance rate does not matter.
Why u care about acceptance rate? I'm lucky if I hit 40% at any given time.
This would be a good idea if acceptance rate mattered. It has zero value.
How do you know acceptance rates don't matter? Okay they may not be used against you to deactivate you, however I wonder if they play a roll in future ride requests being sent to you first vs another driver near by.

I tend to agree with this. Have U pax app running as I pull into a parking area after just dropping off with 5 other drivers showing close by. Sit a minute or 2 and get a ping. Others are still sitting waiting. AR is always 90+. It's happened way too many times to be just a coincidence.

I don't know but I get what I need . I spend a lot of time waiting because I decline so many rides anyway . If you are in an area that gets few ride requests this may be an issue . For me , I only take the rides that fit into a small category . From speaking to passengers and from what I read here , the rides I take are often the rides that others don't want so even if someone else gets it first it will sometimes work its way to me anyway .

That is just an old driver myth. The "algorithm". Which I think is a bunch of trash. Trust me I've been driving for over 5 years. They do not punish you by not giving you requests. Some days are just slower them others and we all know that. Just a conspiracy theory by drivers.

Think about it. What benefit would Uber/Lyft get by not giving the closer driver the requests to let another driver farther away get a request. There platforms rely on short pickup times. That is important to them.
