This must be the absolute height of assish behavior. I get an UberXL call from a restaurant. I get to the location and send a txt that Ive arrived. Wait 5 minutes and no one shows up. So I send another text Im outside the door with car. Still no response. So I call and this drunk guy answers and states that he is just ordering food and to wait. Huh? Just ordering??? I didnt want to wait so I canceled and left. At that point I had been waiting for 15 minutes or so. I drive off. 30 minutes later he rings the phone. Im guessing he got his food and ate it. He came out right then after he paid the bill. I think it would have been a short fare too.

I laugh. This is the height of BC assishness. Expecting me to wait outside while he eats his food inside. Should have stayed down in Hoboken.

A lot of these riders. They are very inconsiderate. I know we provide a much better service Compare to yellow cab and those small town cab service, and they know that too. The riders from time to time they take advantage .

I feel like pax in Bergen County are much better than where I am (Middlesex county). I've been up by there a few times and get much better tips (drive with Lyft only) than down here. Then again, it's mostly college kids and Indian immigrants in Middlesex Co, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.

You allowed yourself to be taken advantage of.
Why would you wait 15 minutes?

...because UberXL fares have been averaging 30 dollars NET and many calls in BC are to the city. So a call to the city would be 70 dollars net.

If you are working an upgrade fare you tend to give them more leeway. No way would I have tolerated it under UberX.

When they order UberXL they are guaranteed a decent spacious car without the Black or SUV price. My Sienna can seat 7 + 1 driver and can hold 4 large suitcases in the back. So it has the same room as the Suburban without the price.

Five minutes and out specially if you text & call
Collect the $4 and go if he wants a ride again let him request again maybe being that drunk would make you keep getting those $4 cancelations fee every 6 minutes lol

The more I thought of it and it churned in my mind the more I didn't want him in my car. He would have been eating in my car, probably a short fare back to his house, drunk along with weird conversation and probably a 1 star at the end of the ride. Think of the type of guy who does this kind of thing. Passengers know we make dick and for him to rob my time like that without caring is assish. He could take a ride with someone else.

Now I will wait for someone for a little bit like in Hoboken where I know people are coming down these walk-ups with luggage to the airport. Oftentimes people do take some time as they leave for the airport. You cant just have a hard rule of 5 minutes and out of there. You also have to give them the courtesy of a few text messages and phone call to see whats going on. However, this guy was in a restaurant eating dinner while I was waiting outside. This guy robbed me of a fare I could have had somewhere else waiting for him. Its total thievery and total asshat.
